are u sure it 1/4 tank? Because mine looks like there is quite a bit left in the tank when i need to switch to reserve. When you fill it back up it will work when its in the 'ON' position?

yea,
there seems to be a good amount left, but maybe not 1/4
so is the only the reserve to remind U to get gas?

Is your '93 a CA model?  If so, you only have 4 gallons to start with, and 1/4 tank is 1 gallon.  That's about where the REServe is supposed to kick in.

At least once, try to fill up right after you hit REServe, and keep track of how many gallons it takes.  (If you put in ~3 gallons, everything is as it should be.)

And Yes, the only reason for REServe's existence is because the GS500 doesn't have a fuel gauge.  Many people aren't religious about resetting their trip meter when they fill up and watching their elapsed miles, so this gives you a very important clue - "Find a Gas Station"!

If you're really curious (and adventurous), try running out the REServe sometime and limping to a gas station on PRI (or carry a measured amount of fuel with you).  After THAT fillup you'll know exactly what you can expect from your fuel system....
