Title: Touch Up Paint?
Post by: Pelikan on January 27, 2011, 01:49:45 PM
I have an '06 with the decals removed.  White fairings/body.  The previous owner scratched up the left side a bit.  Nothing major, not even really noticeable, but I want to touch it up after the next wash.  Does anyone know what touch up paint will work?  Will any automotive bright white do the trick?

go to colorrite.com
Enter make, model and year. They have all the paints in quarts, gallons, spray can and touch up pens.

EDIT:  Colorrite looks like a dead ringer, but they want me to order a base pen with the white.  Close to $40 is a little more than I intended to fix some minor scratches.

I was bopping around the net, and found a Gixxer forum where a guy with the same paint as mine (Pearl Splash White) used Toyota Super White II 040 (TY 01556) with good results.  The scratches on mine are so small that I think just applying any old white will make them disappear.  As it stands, the scratches are black on white and stand out if you look, but I'm pretty sure the Toyota paint will do the trick.

That color is a pearl/sparkly undercoat with a translucent white over it. That is what gives it the depth and sparkly appearance.
I use the Candy Antares Red - same thing. Sparkly base with translucent red on top. Some other colors ate just a single paint, like the blue on my 2009.

Small scratches - you're probably OK with anything and a small fine brush. For larger areas you'd want to do it the right way.

Aren't the blue on the 04 and 09 the same if so they are a two color mix like the white you mention. I have scratches I want to repair to but it almost seems cheaper just to repaint the whole dang bike. More time I guess but $40 for a rattle can c'mon man!

The 09 blue is a single paint. Not a base and a top coat as with 2004

2004:  YC2     Candy Grand Blue
2009:  YKY     Pearl Vigor Blue     Used on Blue/White Model
