Title: I think I'm in love
Post by: tt_four on January 27, 2011, 04:37:55 PM
Found this new bike when I was browsing on the internet. For general riding it would obviously be kinda slow, but I live in the city, and I think the bike would be absolutely amazing for getting around town. I weighs 280lbs wet, has USD forks, and looks better than most full sized 600/1000cc bikes. There's no way they'd ever import one to the US, but from all the looking around I've done, it sounds like getting a 250cc version is a possibility. The frame is supposedly designed around a 250 motor, but it would be great if they could stick the 250 in it and not have to increase the weight anymore than 10-20lbs. I'd start to lose interest once it got over 300lbs. If they ever did import it I'd have to seriously consider buying one.

They even displayed it in a "stunt version" so you know it has some potential for low speed fun...

The CBR125R will be available in Canada and other places but is not headed here.  The all new 2011 CBR250R will be here this spring and has caught my interest.  A ctr'balanced single with hp and torque peaks right where they are on the GS500 and a 10k redline it's said to match the Ninja 250 in performance, time will tell.  Would love to get a test ride on one.

We had one. Was great for my wife to get back into riding after a few years, and it teaches you not to fear revving a motor out a bit. Because you have to. Good up to about 80-90 km/h. Will barely do 120 km/h, although at least one British sportbike magazine re-geared one with different sprockets, and using a van as a windbreaker, got one up to 190   :tongue2:

I rode it more than once, but it was only interesting for about 10 minutes at a time.

The CBR250 has a little more promise, but unless you live at one end of Deal's Gap very small displacement sportbikes can get pretty tiring after a while. It's just so much work to get them up to speed and you have to run the *** out of the motors. Think of what your GS500 would be like if it had 70% less hp and you get the idea.

In round terms, 26ps is about the same in hp and is about 20kw/

I am suprised that nobody has yet pointed out that the new cbr250r will be fuel injected.  :icon_mrgreen:

Exactly, Jserio! I just want it for riding around Kissimmee Orlando area. Not much over 55 most days that I ride to get errands done. I mean 90 mpg that's awesome and you still get the look of a sport bike :thumb:

OOOHHH. I thinking swap. Maybe in a couple years I can find motors and controls for a swap. But then I'll be going from a 500 to a 250. :icon_sad:

It's cute I guess. :dunno_black:

I'd rather have this (http://powersports.honda.com/2011/cb1000r.aspx).

I heard that bike is only putting out 123hp. Could just be a rumor. I'd hope it has some massive low end/midrange to make up for it. Not that 123 isn't a lot, but for a japanese inline4 it makes me slightly curious what they're up to.

OMG what are they doing to exhaust  :o  Are they making them so UGLY that you have to buy an aftermarket exhaust before you'd be seen on the bike! Just give me a round one sheeze!

I like the sssa on it, really makes the funky wheel design stand out. The exhaust is interesting enough. I dig it.

I don't mind the exhaust, although I think it should just be black. Nothing you can't fix with some high temp paint. In general though I do prefer a simple exhaust. The best looking stock exhaust is the 03-04 zx6r, in my opinion. It's just round, had a nice finish, not to big. Just very clean. My favorite alternative designs though are underbelly and undertail exhausts, like the Buell XBs and cbr600rrs. Nothing looks better than an exhaust you don't even notice. the newer goofy styles I can't handle though. The futuristic gsxr exhaust and all that are too much. I know they're trying to make them look less boring, but still. They'll have to get it sorted soon though, with the new law in California that all bikes 2013+ have to have stock exhaust. I expect to see some better looking ones come out.

If your going to go that size, you might as well get something you can have some fun with like a Zook DR200SE or a Yami WR250X!

I'm already planning on picking up a drz400sm or a wr250x in the coming months. They'll be great for riding around and bouncing off of things, but I still think the small size of that 125 would make it just like cruising around on a bmx bike or something like that. Plus I've never seen a bike that small that looked that good.
