I just bought a 2000 BMW R1100RS sport touring bike. I'm sorry to leave behind my beloved 1998 GS500, but I won't need three bikes, so I am selling my GS500 and my 1982 GS1100E.
If anyone knows of someone looking for a well-maintained bike, I have listed my GS500 for sale in the appropriate section of the forum ($1300). Bike is in western Oklahoma.
I was expecting to hear you say you bought a Triumph. Congrats on the bike!
how much do you want for the 82?
Pictures?
Seamax,
The 82GS1100E is $1900. It has 16K miles. Also comes with a tank bag wired for 12V. I have a Windjammer fairing for it for touring in cooler weather, and a small windshield for summer touring. Progressive front springs are installed. It has an almost new rear tire (front is in good shape but I didn't replace it). It is VERY quick (~100 hp) and handles well. Almost new AGM glass mat battery maintained by battery tender. I will also throw in my Fieldsheer saddlebags on that bike, since my BMW has OEM luggage.
I'll get new pics soon. I have been working too many hours the last few weeks! The BMW was a sudden opportunity and I took advantage of it.
Older pics of the 82 are in this thread (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=43839.0). There is some paint wear on the rear bodywork from touring several weeks with saddlebags in rain and road grit now, so itis not QUITE as clean. But still a nice looking bike, and runs great.
Some pics of the 1998 GS500 are in this page (http://myweb.cebridge.net/james.south/2007%20Trip/index.html) and this page (http://myweb.cebridge.net/james.south/2008%20Trip/index.html).
Are they highway pegs on the GS1100?

Yes, those are highway pegs. Easily removable if you don't like them. They're actually too far forward to be comfortable for my short little legs, but my dad is over 6' and enjoyed them!
I just added a listing for the 1982 GS1100E and added pictures to both listings in the For Sale section.
post up pics of the new bike or we all know you really didnt get it...lol

Man I wish the GS500 had those for us taller riders. I use my crash sliders sometimes as highway pegs.

What's funny is that I don't have it yet. My dad is driving to Illinois to pick it up for me. I'll have it Friday or Saturday...
All I have right now are pics from the seller:

I had forward pegs on my 97 and 02 naked GSs for years. Was nice to be able to move a leg or two for a little while on the longer rides to relieve cramps. I had the Suzuki oem case guards that are getting hard to find now.

I listed the GS500 on Craigslist Saturday night (the GS1100 never showed up...) and within 12 hours had an email with the phone number of an interested buyer. I called him, and he was a former GS500 owner who was looking for a clean mostly stock bike. He drove out to see it (almost 2 hours each way) and it is now sold.
He left me a cash deposit (couldn't get all the cash due to the bank being closed on Sunday). We'll meet to deliver the bike when the weather permits in the next two weeks. I am glad it is going to someone who will appreciate it, but sad that it will be gone. I have spent many a happy hour in that saddle!
Congrats on the new bike. It looks sexy! :thumb:
