Title: Tall Rider
Post by: Thommo on January 29, 2011, 01:16:57 AM
Hey All,

Fairly new GS rider,

I'm 6'5" and 100kgs and wondering what mods I could do to improve the bike for me?

By looking around it seem new springs might be start, any other suggestions?

Cheers

Plenty of hours in the saddle to get them muscles used the ergos.  :thumb:

I am tall (6'2") also and I try to have a rest every hour or so otherwise I do not enjoy the ride.

I am 6'2" as well, and weigh about 260 pounds, and I never had a  problem other than crappy stock suspension.

I'm 6 2, some people change out the suspension to make it stiffer, IMO I wouldn't. but im only 170 LBS.

I'm almost 200 lbs and found it necessary to change the suspension. I put a Katana shock in the rear and .90 sonic springs in the front. I probably should have gone with .85 but I'm not getting any lighter.

You may also find that you want to change the riding position to be more comfortable. You can add bar risers, switch the bars, or put on clip ons. It all depends on how you want to change the positioning. For more leg room you can buy or make something similar to the "footpeg lowering kit" listed halfway down the page here: http://www.whaccessories.com/GS500Accessories.htm (http://www.whaccessories.com/GS500Accessories.htm)

It all depends how long you plan to have the bike to, I wouldn't just because im going to sell it in a couple of months at the end of summer, if you plan to make this baby your own for a while then its worth it.

Uhm, well here we go!

Why do you want to name a bike your only going to have a few months? How long have you had your bike? What do you plan on getting next?
