Global Warming MY A$$...
This weekend started with cold on Friday afternoon of -15C (5F) then just got progressively colder...by Sunday morning -27C (-16.6F)...thankfully I plugged my truck in last night...got up this morning to a quite "Brisk" -37C (-34.6F)...gotta luv Canadian winters...but hey, it's supposed to warm up by Wednesday for a high of 2C (35.6F)?? WTF??
Anyway, done whining...but my truck was kinda pissed at me this morning...
Later.
Yeah it seems kind of backwards doesn't it. A few degree change (you only have to get to a hair over 0C/32F for melting to start...so a mild change over a period of time can make a difference..) can cause lots of Polar ice melt...Seas that are normally frozen act as lids to the ocean water (which is warmer that the air above it)...Changes the wind patterns and places get different weather than before. Seems fairly logical to me... My 2 cents....
That's pretty damn cold tho....wow -37 degrees... Stay warm man.
Possible "explanation":
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/expect-more-extreme-winters-thanks-to-global-warming-say-scientists-2168418.html
In the past winters the snow would always melt here before the next snowfall. This is the first winter where I live that the snow never melts completely before another snow storm hits.
It should have been termed "Global Climate Change". The scientists really screwed up by naming it Global Warming.
Maybe "Global Extreme Weather"...or "Friggin' Retarded"... :D
Later.
Why not just call it Al Gore weather? I mean after all isn't he the supposed "father of global warming"?
It's the height of hubris for people to pretend that we truly understand how the weather works on a planetary scale.
I predict that sometime over the next few days the sun will shine.
I predict there is only a 70% chance the sun will shine in the next few days.
I predict that there is a 50% chance that your prediction is correct.
I predict there is a 51% chance that I'm correct...then again, I'm an optimist.
I predict there is a 70% chance that your prediction of my prediction of your prediction is correct.
I predict there is an 83% chance that this will end up in "Tard Farm" if we keep this up...
Later.
Nope, this will be buried and forgotten in a day or two...or at least until jserio resurrects it from the grave in January 2016...
:icon_eek:
I predict 98% that Jserio will Resurrect this post before 2016. :icon_lol:
Well, how long does a thread have to be "idle" in order for it to be "dead"? It's my understanding something has to die before you can ressurrect it.
It was 76 today :D and sunny! Ducks and covers from any flying debris that you throw at your computer while reading that !

For that remark, I just farted on your pillow. :flipoff:

Its in the 50's this morning, predicted to climb into the 60's during the day, then drop to high 50's for overnight, then make it into the 60's again tommorow before it gets to be mid 50's the rest of this week. Then, next week - 60's again.
Cool.
Buddha.
@Yama: those Ferarri Californias are nice, over priced but nice...the uber luxury would be nice for a road trip, but really does nothing for me...
...and you all SUCK!! It warmed up this morning...-31C (-23.8F) right now not counting wind...although by tomorrow afternoon it is supposed to get up to 2C (35.6F)...WTF??
Oh well, at least the cold snap is ending...-30 is just friggin' cold!!
I almost put my name in for a position down in Farmington, New Mexico...wifey wouldn't do it though...maybe next time...
Later.
In NC atleast I'd say this winter is very mild/warm, though 2 big snows 2 weeks apart is somewhat of a record.
If it never drops below mid 50's for the highs in feb I'd almost rate this winter as the warmest I have ever seen in NC.
BTW the most recent weekend it was mid 60's and sunny, but, I've seen 75 degree new years, 75 degree christmas, as well as the 2009 jan 24th weekend which was in the 60's only to get a ton of snow, a week or so later.
Cool.

This has actually been some of the coldest days in recent memory. I think they said we had more freezing nights in the month of January this year then we've had combined the past 6 years :o
But, again we also had the second hottest summer on record. I really do think climate change is happening but don't think we have the slightest clue if it is part of Earth's cyclic behavior or if we have really screwed the planet up that bad. I'm thinking we didn't create it but we certainly aren't helping it!
Mary
Now that is a theory I can agree with...I don't think we are helping any, but the current fluctuations are a normal part of the global cycle...??
Makes sense to me...
Later.
Least it got warmer madjak :flipoff:
I know I'm whining a lot about the cold, but in '89 when I was going to Tech School (bussing it) the cold snap was -40C (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada)...so yeah, it is warming...but it doesn't really seem like it...but the weather just seems to be getting more extreme, not just warming...
Later.
Well, today was 33C (91.4F) with 58% humidity - down from the 96% it was earlier in the day WTF.
Floods, now hot and humid, and now a bloody hurricane up north - Cat 5 WTF!!!!!! batton down the hatches...
Michael
We can hit those temps in the mid summer too, but not the humidity...that would be tough without A/C, which I don't have...just fans...
Like I said...more Extreme weather...I thought I read somewhere a couple of years ago that the Earths axis is changing (north and south pole are changing location?) and that is what is causing the weird weather...??
As long as I can ride my bike, I really don't care too much...just dress for it...

Well global temp cycles happen over several millenia, there is evidence that we may have been as much as 5 degrees warmer @ some point in the past, even more, some theories say 10+ ... however that 10 degree change in average temp took likely over 10,000 if not more years to occour. We seem to have got 2-3 degrees in something like under 100, more like 40-45 years. That is just too fast for anything to adapt/evolve.
Cool.
Buddha.
BTW if you notice the snow around where you are has been getting wetter that is a sign the earth is getting warmer.
Cool.
Buddha.
Nope...still too dry to make a snowball, never mind a snowman!!
Globe still not warm enough... :icon_mrgreen:
The white fluffy stuff does make it pretty though!!
Later.
Oh, well I thought dry snow compacts and rolls better. Around here we get it far too wet to make anything, However the christmas day snow did roll and compact, maybe it has to be a wee bit wet ? Most snow we get is too wet, like the Jan snow was. Soppy wet crap.
Cool.
Buddha.
Not here...you can compact it in your hand, and it feels kinda solid...but you try to throw it and it's like you are trying to throw a handful of feathers...spring snow works well though...maybe in March...usually our last snow is in mid May...but the roads usually clear up in April, just the odd flurry of snow to screw things up...
It's usually a good season here if we get 6 months of riding...better than nothing I guess...
Later.
83 Today oh life is soooo tough! Was a little cloudy though if you must feel for me sigh!

About 15 years ago I was working on a fuel terminal in Provost, Alberta in January and -40 C. July of the same year and I was back at same location and +40 C. Only time I've seen that in the same year and both problems were weather related. Card reader froze up in Jan and cooling fan quit in July. Had to close work ticket with call centre in Georgia and girl said it couldn't get that cold.
For the record that cold was easier to bear, only so much you can take off in summer.
Maybe I should send her the pic I took of our thermometer...-56C...coldest I've ever seen personally...although she would probably think I rigged it...
That wasn't in Alberta, but just north of the Alberta border in Yellowknife, NWT...lived there for a couple of years...not quite the Arctic Circle, but close...
Later.
Nope there is a reason I live in Florida! But, the summers are becoming brutal when you at 98 degrees with 98% humidity and working in black pants and a highlighter yellow polo it is like living in Hell if I were to guess as to what hell is like. One day it was so bad when I got my pants off at the end of my shift my legs looked like I had put them in boiling water. I couldn't get my riding pants on or my boots for that matter I had to ride home in shorts and sneakers. I was scared that night! Went to my Dr. the next day and she said I had second degree burns on my legs. Between my dickies, the heat, and humidity I was actually boiling in my uniform!
I would love to move to Boston but I don't tolerate cold at all! My implanted defibrillator sits on a nerve in my chest and everytime I shiver it sends a tingly feeling down my arm. while it doesn't "hurt" in the sense but it doesn't feel good either!
