hi there ! :) I'm really confused ,last night i started my GS 500 E ('95) for a few minutes it went just fine! ....this morning tried to start it and it won't fire up , i checked the spark plugs and they seem to be fine given me nice fat sparks, gas is on , i also checked the battery and charged it but still nothing, it just giving me the sound that it wants to start ...but it just won't fire up ?! ... i tried over and over ....tried to put in second gear and bump start it ...Nada ... it gave me one sound a big fat boom in the exhaust pipe ... and thats it ! could a one night stand make such a difference ?? what could be the problem ?? :dunno_black: HELP MEEEE PLS ! Thank you in advance ! :)
Was it left outside in the wet? have you tried switching fuel tap to prime/reserve?
i've tried that to ... i can't possibly imagine what went wrong ... and it's not even cold outside ... could be the carb ? ... i wish thats ok cause i realy don't wanna take it apart ...
Remember the "Park" position of the key.
If you turned the key too far when you left the bike, it was in PARK where the tail running light was left on (and headlight running light if a 2004+ F model).
Been there - done that but fortunately I caught it when I looked back at the bike.
The "big fat boom" meant that you had a buildup of fuel and finally something sparked and lit it off, so it sounds like you have intermittent spark. When motorcycle battery's die...it is literally from one ride to the next. Here is my final guess...

thanks i will try it today .... but still I charged the battery exactly to the same level 12.7 V and nothing ... i just keep on working on it :D
You didn't bump the kill switch did you? Rookie mistake, many have done it.
I bumped the kill switch on the freeway once...I was so confused
it happend to me as well :D :D but no, this time i double checked that one ;) i still couldn't start it so i called a mechanic ...i hope he knows whats the problem :)

The battery in my garden tractor read 12.8V and only gave me a "click", voltage and amperage are two different things, I'm still sticking with battery on this one :whisper:
