I've got a bad oil leak from the right side cover but only have this gasket left. Can someone tell me if it's for the left or right side?

Right side / clutch side. Make sure you pick up a new crank seal while your at it.
And when you take the cover off to replace the gasket dont forget the hidden bolt :thumb ...........in there with the pick-up coils.
Yea.. hidden bolts.. once i had forgot a hidden bolt under the starter when disassembled the engine :icon_lol:
I struggled with it for a god 2 hours while found that damn bolt, and then the case splitted so easily :technical:

Oh yea we broke a katana engine case that way. When I was telling this story to my old friend who is an old school suzuki guy, he said you forgot to take that bolt under the starter didn't you. That was before I even said we busted the engine case.

I have the same leak and have bought this clutch cover gasket... any details on the crank seal? Is this a hard process, ive installed gaskets on cars a few times but new to bikes and still learning to ride.

Crank seal on a bike looks like a tiny one-piece rear main seal from a car. Just pop out the old one when you get the cover off and install the new on using a bit of oil around the edges for lube. To set it, I used a socket that was the same diameter as the seal. Just tap it in! Also, some people like to put a silicone sealant on the cover gasket when they replace it, I don't. Make sure the gasket surfaces are cleaned completely of the old material and oil and set the new one in place dry. I've never had a leak when I replaced mine this way.
Last question i have the manual but dont see torque patterns and specs for the clutch cover/case any input?
Have fun scraping old gasket off :thumb: Ended up taking the whole dang thing over to the bench to scrape and scrape and then scrape some more. Not one of my more pleasurable tasks with 'ole boy. But, he doesn't leak now!

took about 3 hours did it yesterday! :cheers:
No more leaks from the clutch cover but my chain is dropping some oil/lubricant hope its not the cog seal..
Take the cover off and wipe out the shyte, betcha a cold beer the leak goes away :thumb:

Meant to mention that scraping the old gasket took about 1.5 hours... major pita.

Looks like my LH crankcase cover is leaking on the bottom as well.. SOB I cleaned the crap outa the front cog and cover and took a 15 mile run and inspected it. I hope its not the oil pan gasket that could be a worse pita.. The good news is that the RH cover is dry now after replacing that gasket Friday.
