Title: Tire decisions
Post by: mimikeni on February 18, 2011, 10:34:26 AM
Hello Riders,
I'm trying to choose new tires for my '96 GS500E and I've narrowed things down to a few options.  By the way, I read the link about tires on this site-very comprehensive and helpful.  I'm looking at Avon AM26, Bridgestone BT45, Bridgestone 21, or Bridgestone BT 23.  Anyone out there with experience on these tires?

Hey, we were just having a discussion 'bout tires the other day.  Check it out.  http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=55095.0 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=55095.0)

FYI, from what I gather, Bridgestones are kind of meh unless you're dealing with race-ready tires.  BT45 gets decent marks, but there're better tires for the same price.  I'm on Dunlop GT501G in the rear and BT45 up front.  45 needs replacing; going with GT501G front as well.  The Dunlops seem like good tires at a good price.  Avon Roadriders have been recommended as well.

If I had some extra coin and my rear tire was a bit more worn in, I'd get a set of Pirelli Demons F & R.  Those're debatably the best GS street tires.
