Title: Part numbers for Chain and Sprockets on 2009
Post by: i_happen on February 21, 2011, 05:31:01 PM
Hi,
I've searched the forum and succeeded on confusing myself. I'm after the part numbers for the items below. I've been given the opportunity to purchase these parts for myself at wholesale but I need to provide the Suzuki part numbers
There to go on a 2009 GS500.

17 tooth front sprocket
39 tooth rear sprocket
Chain to suit.

Thanks in advance
Brian

Go to just about any dealer site or place that sells parts and do a parts search - such as aurorasuzuki.com

http://www.aurora-suzuki.com/fiche_select2.asp?category=Motorcycles&make=Suzuki&year=2009&fveh=28479

That should get you close.

36    SPROCKET, ENGINE (NT:16)
27511-01D01    1    $25.16

39    CHAIN, DRIVE (DID520V6X110LE)
27600-01C10-110  (replaces 27600C01C10J110)    1    $109.32

17    SPROCKET, REAR (NT:39)
64511-01D04  (replaces 64511C01D04J000)    1    $39.52

NOTE: By the part numbers, front sprocket is 16 teeth.

Thankyou. Would the 17 tooth sprocket be a NT17 then

NT:16 just indicates number of sprockets (i.e. NUMBER of TEETH) for reference.

Part number is 27511-01D01

I don't think there is a stock part number for a 17 tooth sprocket for a GS500. For that, someone else needs to chime in.

Some 17T sprocket info, might be other/different sources downunder:

The stock chain is a continuous one without a master link so it would be necessary to drop the swingarm to install a new one.  Most just cut off the original chain and install one with a master link without dropping the swingarm.  I've always used a clip type master link but others insist a rivet type is necessary.  Any name brand 520 O-ring chain with 110 links will work; I've used DID and RK chains so far and will be putting on a Parts Unlimited one next:

I've heard good things about "X" chains.
Whatever chain you get, be sure it has "rings" of some type.
