Title: Another handlebar question...I'm sorry
Post by: murf425 on March 08, 2011, 12:16:47 PM
I've used the search function pretty extensively, but it seems that either A) the posts are talking about E model bikes, B) the question never gets answered, or C) the pics have long since been removed.  So I'm sorry to ask again, but:

Which size drag bars will best fit an F-model GS?  I have super-long arms, so I'm not too worried about the reach; I can reach anything.  I only care about what will have enough clearance to work with the fairings/tank/instruments.

Using the options on this site, which model would I need to ensure that they don't hit anything and have enough room for all the controls to be mounted?

PS: You got PM.

LOL.  I'm just the white version.  :tongue2:  (6'5" with a 39" sleeve length...)  :o

I've seen other threads on this. No, they won't clear the fairings.

Well, factory clip ons will work (89's and one of the European types). I suppose the other bars would work - just maybe you won't be able to turn. How often do you do that anyway?
There is a lot of space in front of the bars. You should be able to find something that works. Experiment with a broom handle or towel bar to find your limits. You could go naked (the bike, not you).

Take pictures and show us what you find out.
