Well Ive been needing an igniter for a while now, and finally found a member to sell me one but the post office lost it. So I went to ebay and its supposed to arrive expedited shipping within 4-5 buisness days. Hopefully Ill have my bike going and be closer to 20 bucks a week on gas i was spending last summer.
But on a subject that actually worth starting a new topic over, has anyone else ever had trouble using the post vs. fed ex or ups or anyone like that? Also what exaclty does expedited shipping mean?

Expedited shipping means you pay more and it arrives in the same time much of the time as it would otherwise. Considering total cost, effectiveness, and convenience, I use the post office whenever possible. Priority mail works for me. Here's a tip: keep extra spares (clutch and brake cables especially) so when something goes you don't have to wait to ride again.

USPS is decent... but FedEx usually gets stuff moving the fastest IMHO. UPS is OK but I've had them damage several packages and their drivers very casually leave packages outside my front door if nobody answers. I've had $300-$600 purchases just chill out all day outside the front door and we live on a through street. :cookoo:
I never use UPS, they always seem more expensive. I use both the post office and USPS, I decide which by how big the box is. Big boxes go to fedex and smaller ones go to the post office.
After, my experiences with FedEX I don't like them. The guy delivered 3 of my orders to the wrong apartment complex which I never got and supposedly had my confirmation. Found out this is what was happening when I was waiting for the fourth and had called the driver three times to ask him where he was and he said I'm at your house giving them to you now. I told him how can you be delivering them to me if I'm talking to you on the phone? Tried to prosecute the person but the guy never would admit that that was who he delivered the other three packages to. So never again!

I just wrote a message to an Ebay seller about using something other than UPS. To deliver a shock is $24 shipping? WTH? I know they have some weight to them but they are not very big at all. Not sure if you call it a gouge or if UPS just charges to damn much. I think the flat rate USPS is a good way to go.

Frankly, I hate when people do that after buying something or bidding on something I'm selling. The shipping amount on eBay usually includes shipping and handling charges (cost of box/envelope, packaging supplies, cost of transporting the package to the shipper, etc). If it wasn't mentioned before the auction ended, then it won't hurt to ask... but if it was clearly stated how much will be charged for shipping, and knowing this you already bid/bought an item.... :cookoo:

You knew the guy personally or something? FedEx won't usually release driver names let alone contact numbers of whoever is delivering a packaging.

You will find that many sellers use the shipping charges to make an extra buck (or more). Just look at the variation in shipping costs on exactly the same item from sellers in the same location or at similar distances. Based on the shipping charges versus the price they are selling the item for, it looks like some of them make most of their money on overcharging for shipping.

Yea, I keep old parts around, but just didnt have any extra igniter units laying around so I have to wait for shipping.
And yea, $20 a week and that was when I was taking the bus to school and gas was only $2.30- $2.50 haha. I definatly ride alot; when its running anyway.

I didn't buy the item nor did I bid on it. Just informed him he might move more product if the shipping cost wasn't so high. The last shock I bought......from the same dealer arrived wrapped in newspaper with a plastic bag over that. Many of the things I get from ebay arrive in some random box that they received something in. If I bid on something or win something you can bet I know the shipping conditions. If they are high and I bid anyway......that is tuff titty for me. I just hate paying say 18 bucks for shipping and see the postage printed on the box of $3.40. I bought some watering valves for my chickens the other day. The product was $9.......shipping was $16. Weighed 8oz and came via snail mail. Does that seem right? I needed the part and they were the only place I could find it.
Meh......I guess opinions vary. I prefer to do the straight forward honest approach when I am selling stuff on Ebay.
