I scored a "98 Black with 400 miles on it (Ebay). It was so stock and clean. I mean untouched. I can't believe how cool it is. Worth every penny and probably more. It is 40's and a windshield of 23 here in philly today. Guess what i'm doing anyway. I am totaly stoked to be a GS owner, and this looks like a cool group! See yous on the street!!
Hey, Cozy-
What a great deal and a great bike for Philly! You're almost ready for that first service. Get your oil changed, check all fluid levels, clean, lube, & check chain play, check & tighten all bolts, connections.
Always wear good safety gear (nag nag nag)!
Think about the few mods that give you the most bang for the buck. The top 2 (IMHO) would be a simple carb rejet, and progressive fork springs. Oh, and when you wear out some tread, think about getting "real" tires. With these alone your bike will ride at a whole new level. Also, buy a manual thru the website.
Check out Pablo's, & Kerry's, sites for good general info and how-to's, also GS Jack has good tire info.
Good luck, hang out here, ask a lot of questions. Happy & safe riding!! :thumb:
Congrats on your purchase!!! Score on more GS-er for PA :thumb:
If its stock, remember to let her warm up thoroughly before takin' her out on days like today. I tried to cheat and pull out of the drive yesterday after only about 5 minutes of warming up and I nearly stalled pulling into traffic :o :nono: If you're gonna ride on days like today.. a rejet is definitely in order.
Anyway.. happy riding and welcome to the board.
peace
