Title: An introduction
Post by: mikeybikey82 on March 18, 2011, 08:10:05 AM
Hello gstwins!  My name is Mikey, and I just bought a 2000 gs500e.  It has 5k miles on it, and I got it for $1495.  This is only my second street bike, my first being a 81 Yamaha XS400, and I must say I am glad to get another Suzuki!  I already own two 2006 LT-R 450's, and a 2008 SX-4.  Must be an addiction... :icon_lol:  I love this bike already, and I am looking forward to the spring and summer in the lovely PNW!

Damn...that's a really clean bike for its age.  Very nice grab.
Welcome aboard, and ride safe.

Wow you got a pretty sweet deal my friend. I bought a 98 about a year or two ago with 6k miles for $1800. Then again, I was just so anxious to get a gs that the price wasn't really a concern  :tongue2:

Very nice, and new looking rubber as well...good shopping!!

I was in the same boat as djkdjk07...and just got lucky with mine...but my mileage was much higher 21,500kms ish (13,500 miles ish) and paid $3000, but being in Canada our pricing on bikes, cars and trucks sucks!!  Mine's a 2003...super reliable though...

Welcome to our gang!!

Later.

Yea ditto on what everyone else said.  I got a terrible deal on my bike in comparison, but I'm still happy.

Seems to be a lot of GS500's coming out of Olympia. There's another on the board from there and I bought Trey from a guy in Olympia a month ago.

nice bike. For our weather, look into getting the mud flap for the back of the front fender. That's what those 2 little holes are for. Helps keep you and the bike cleaner.

MUD FLAP, FRONT FENDER

About $20 at a dealer. Sometimes on fleabay but don't pay more than retail. Someone on the board probably has an extra one.

(PS: TREY is the name of my 3rd GS500. People here tend to name their bikes. Think of a name for your bike. Bikes run better when they have a name other than "my bike", same as pets and wives. They all respond better when you call them by name.)

yea i havent really seen any around, but i also havent been lookin!  there seems to be a bunch of ninja 250's, and i almost bought one but my wife said its a 'girl bike', haha.  i will definitely keep a look out for a mud guard, i ride to work basically every day rain or shine so that would be a nice help!  a name huh........hmmm......ill have to think on that one.  thanks!

That is a sweet looking GS. In fact, it looks exactly like mine! (It's also a 2000) Welcome aboard.
