ok. so i was in the garage and happened to have a camera near me.. my brain gears meshed and off i went to make the "el cheapo" camera mount.

mounts to a fairing bolt that mounts to the frame (secure!)
so i tested it out and it worked well, with minimal vibration.. the sound quality wasnt good (wind). the only problem was my turn signal was right in the line of sight.
so a few days later (today), i decided to make one that mounts up near the mirror.

vibration is worse, sound is better. and the view is way better>

You should get a longer lanyard for your camera and tie it around your mirror or something... It would suck if the camera detached from the mount when you are traveling at a high speed.
the lanyard was not attached in either picture.
The pillion footpeg isn't the worst view, and gives you pretty good anchorage point. This is me sticky taping a cheap Sony still camera to the footpeg of a balinese rental scooter while on holiday. The angle could have been improved, but I got caught in a monsoon shortly after this was shot. It was the only place on the scooter I could find to mount it up.
This is me learning to ride btw, this is a few days after I arrived and rented a scooter with no experience in traffic. I just got my license in Australia doing the course around the witches hats, then found myself in 3rd world traffic.

neither of the videos were shot from the passenger footpeg. i secured a 90* piece of steel to the upper fairing bolt. (sandwiched between the fairing and the mount on the frame)
I made one last year for the low low price of about 5 dollars, and it works incredibly well. Sorry this is the only pic I have but I can detail what parts I used;
1 x Dollar store tripod (any dollar store sells these)
2 x 3" hose clamps
1 x 3" PVC T fitting (plumbing) you can get this at any home depot for about 2 bucks looks like this; http://www.poolcenter.com/T_plumbing.jpg
You'll have to cut using a hack saw or dremmel a ~2" slit down the underside of the PVC T tube allowing you to spread it over the bars. Once in place, simply put a hose clamp on either side and tighten. Slide the tripod into the top hole on the PVC T and use a multi-purpose adhesive to securely keep it in place, you can clamp it down as well. Note: I only put the black elec tape over the clamps to make it look clean and cover the clamps, it doesnt provide any other purpose than aesthetic. Then screw your camera on and your done. I have a small clip of me riding with the camera mounted. I dont have a youtube acct or anything, but could email you it if you really wanted to see it. Its a 6mb avi.

I made a similar mount (well almost identical) when I first got my Gs. Problem is. I blacked out the windscreen. And my current bike: 97 zx6r has clip ons. So I had to get creative.
