Title: White smoke, idles great, put on gear fine, give throttle while in gear...dies
Post by: plewis51 on March 19, 2011, 04:47:32 PM
So I did a rejet. I started the bike with choke on, it warmed up quickly so I turned the choke off. I set the idle as suggested from others and everything looked fine. After idling for about 15 minutes I decided to go for a ride. I put the bike in gear and started but as I gave more throttle there is a ton of white smoke out of the exhaust and its all over, the bike dies.

I have 07 with a slip on exhaust and lunchbox. Any suggestions is extremely helpful!

Does it feel completely powerless? Could be running on one cylinder.

 :woohoo: :woohoo:

I pulled the tops of the carbs and put another washer on the needle. I found that the right side spring had twisted inside and restricted the needle from moving. I corrected the spring as well. It ran great! I let it idle for about 15 minutes and then went for a ride. The acceleration is amazing after the rejet and I feel the GS begging me to open up the throttle. I feel a slight sputter if I let the throttle drop when slowing down, and I can't jump back on the throttle or it starts to chug slightly before recovering itself.

All in all I am pleased to get this far. I will continue to tweak but I am extremely pleased with the current outcome.
