Title: Bike cutting off!
Post by: ttpakasnipe on March 21, 2011, 05:15:54 AM
Ok, guys....

I don't THINK the fuel lines are switched, but I could be wrong...

Either way, when I turn the petcock to 'ON' and ride for a few mins, it'll turn off.... But when I turn it to 'PRI', she runs like a champ. I don't mind running PRI except that it also seems to use reserve when I run prime....

Do you guy have any idea what could cause the problem??

Thanks,
James

Does it work while in RES?
If not there might be a problem with the vacuum hose?

I checked the vacuum hose, it looks fine

I recently Rejetted the carb, unfortunatly, didn't use Buddha's stuff...

It will not run on RES any longer than ON...

I don't want to keep running in PRIME because I don't want to flood the carbs or anything along the lines.

Also, I seem to be getting terrible gas mileage recently, under 30mpg, normal driving.

I'm willing to take a road trip in NC, lower VA if someone wants to help fix this!

That fuel mileage is really low, are you sure it is running on both cylinders?

it sounds like something may be hooked up wrong after you worked on it.  When it is running does it seem like it is rich?  do the spark plugs look ok?

Actually, I was wrong about fuel mileage, it's getting around 50...

It doesn't run rich or anything, everything is normal, except the petcock..

I tried working on it yesterday and everything looks fine.

the previous owner of my bike put the back of the petcock on upsidedown, so when bolted to the frame the vacuum nipple faced rearward

i guess he couldn't figure out his mistake because he just left the vacuum line uncapped...
