Alright ladies (and dudes with long locks), ever since I started riding my hair turns to shaZam! after the season. Leaving the tresses flowing is no longer an option. The gals in the magazine ads clearly do not ride since their coiffures are perfect in every way, and every curl and wave has its place. Braiding has it's pros and cons, but ultimately does nothing to prevent wind damage. Am I doomed to forever take ten minutes to stuff my mane in my helmet every time? I have since bought two sizes of helmets to make up for this. Are there any other options out there (besides shaving my head)? What do you all do?
O0
Cut it shorter? Not like shaved short, but around jaw-length? It's, IMO, super cute that length, and then you just leave it down, tie a bandana around it, and put your helmet on. Easy like pie.
If you want to leave it long...well...I can't help there. At the time when my hair was the longest I've EVER had it, it was still well-within military uniform regs.
Ever since I've ridden with Pandy, I've seen her braid it, and she has beautiful, LONG hair; torso length (okay it's down to her...small of her back (tailbone)). I appreciate and like natural hair, so any state that hair is in, it looks beautiful to me. And, the fact that you ride is much more of a turn on than your hair. I also appreciate the deeper beauty of a person, but that's not the question you asked. And, my current girlfreind braids her hair, and it's beyond shoulder length.
As far as wind damage goes, I don't know. I'll ask. But, by the sounds of it, if your hair is easily wind damaged, you may already have your answer, to stuff your hair up into the helmet to protect it.
Back when I had long hair I would just put the helmet on (while letting the hair go down, not stuffing in helmet) then I would put the jacket on over the hair and BAM!!!! Hair stays in place.
I was gonna say maybe put it in a loose pony tail and then put your jacket on over your hair. I'm not sure if it would eventaully blow out or not.
I think shaving your head would look hot. Then we can take pictures and post them up on this site.
I went the shaved route:

I would second the 'put the jacket over your hair' idea though...
i still shave mine. always went that route. helmet hair makes me think of justin beiber :technical: :technical:
Yeah, I keep my hair kinda short as you know. Baseball caps have become my best friend after trying to put gel in my hair and putting my helmet on in August can you say "there's something about Mary-ish" looked like happened in my helmet (nuts no puke smiley)

Thanks for the replies! I've tried the 'jacket over the helmet', but it always just ends up coming out and whipping away. I researched some braid covers that cover the braid, but not the end, which seems silly. I suppose I'll just continue 'stuffing'. Sorry baltimoreGS and ver4, you guys will just have to keep being patient every time we gear up! I think it's the best option- but it just takes a long time and is very uncomfortable.

I thought if you used enough of the right hair gel it would just harden in your hair and act like a helment? :dunno_white:

What about a bandana around your neck to help keep your hair in the jacket?
Or, a balaclava (sp?) or neck gaitor/warmer?
Tube sock? ;)
Braid your hair, slide the sock over it, scrunchie/rubber band/zip-tie it in place, and go about your business.
Scratch, yeah, I definitely wear the balaclava when it's chilly out- that helps!
murf- that's a good idea too!! Haha, I'm going to try that maybe with some pantyhose? It would be like a hair condom!
K - You need to grow your hair out long enough so that when you braid it you can either let it lie along your back or sling it over to the front. Then zip inside your jacket.

PS - I've never had that problem. How can you have a problem with something you don't have.

x2
A tube sock would cover the end.
Porkchop- it's long enough to braid and all that, but it won't really stay in my jacket- I just have to rebraid it each time I pull my helmet off. Really not a big deal...I'm glad I'm not posting about my bike not working or something like that, haha!
Pachman- as always, your posted innuendos add such flare to the forum. ;)

Two words....hair extensions.

Ok so why does Flo the Progressive girl have fantastic hair everytime :dunno_white:
Mary
Straight hair
OK Im a Male and used to have long hair(torso length) and what I would d is do A low ponytail and use hair bands every 2 inches no braid. I would get frizzy when pulled of but a lil water took care of that. Since then I chopped it off and no worries either. never bothered my with or without. but with looked better IMHO. added pics

oh and this was when it was shorter I grew about 5 inches more since the pic and as of late full length it about an inch or so mohawk.
Ah, yes, there's the dreaded frizz! Motorcycling isn't as romantic or stylish as they make it...add some sweat mixed with the smell of exhaust, a pair of bent eyeglasses, a sore butt, and voila!

My manly sweat attracts the ladies.

Mmmm! Sweaty biker babes with sore butts.....throw in some leather chaps and it sounds like the start of budding romance to me.

Wow. Alright...thank you, gentlemen, for your fashion tips. Where the heck are the ladies on this site?! :dunno_black:
But, on a related topic to your a$$less chaps- a friend of mine bought a used bike and, on taking apart the seat, found that the foam was carved out in the pillion to accommodate two very powerful vibrators. :o
Home made massage seat I guess. :icon_lol:
