Title: New bars, new grips?
Post by: Twism86 on March 22, 2011, 06:10:20 PM
Im ordering new bars. Will i be able to reuse my grips or can they not be taken off without getting ruined? If so i might as well order new ones at the same time, what does everyone recommend?

I've reused plenty of grips, but the deciding factor is whether the grips are glued onto the bars when the bike was built. See if your left grip will even some off of the bar without it ripping.

I did new Bikemaster Superbike bars and Progrip 719's.  My old grips were a bit of a bear to get off in once piece but I did it.  The progrips are super nice.

Don't worry, they aren't as bright and sparkley in real life.  8)
Very much worth the little bit of work and $.

I had a pair of progrips on my GS that looked just like those, but flat gray in the middle. I really liked them. I have Spider(or spyder, not sure which) on my current bike, they're ok but not as nice. I wanted to keep the progrips, but the spiders had red on the ends and my GS was blue, so I swapped them out before I sold the GS.
