What has the PO done to your bike that you would like to shoot them for.....
I'll start:
1. Broken carb choke mount.
2. Broken sync nipple.
3. Stripped exhaust bolt (pretty common I admit).
4. Bent peg mounts, and yes I mean the frame!
5. Put a 150 tire on the back WITHOUT modding the brake arm (just let it rub!).
Whatchyou got?
1. My bike had a car exhaust on it. I'm pretty sure he didn't rejet. Changed it out for the stock exhaust.
2. Forks leak and I'm too lazy to fix it.
3. Rear brake pad needed to be replaced.
4. Bought a lemon.
Oh yeah, I forgot.
6. SV650 exhaust crap welded to the header, ruining the collector, AND no use of the rear brake.
Thankfully my po was actually knowledgable
My PO figured that keeping the rubber side down was just a suggestion...come to find out my frame is slightly tweaked! :2guns:
One of the bolts that hold down the sprocket cover snapped. So they left half the bolt in, filled with JB weld (I think), drilled and tapped it but snapped the tap and left it inside the hole. Then tried drilling it out and snapped 2! drill bits inside the same hole. I guess they said F it- mounted the sprocket cover with the remaining 3 bolts and glued the 4th bolt head on to hide the entire mess. High quality.
Upon tearing the engine apart, I found small sticks and leaves in the oil pan, mud (yes, mud) in the float bowls, and sand on TOP of the diaphragms. I couldn't do more damage to a bike if I tried.
MY current bike even though bought as a repairable write off has been good.
The previous bike though.
Lied about running it out oil, lied about servicing, lied about everything I asked actually. Sadly I still sold it for more than I bought it for after repairs.
My PO didn't do anything too bad that I've found, but he did one thing that was super annoying.
Hooked the carb vent hose to the gas tank drain spout. I of course hooked it back up that way because that's how I took it off, so for a while I had problems with it randomly dying and the carbs flooding...
My PO has been good.... so far.... i'm yet to pull apart the carbs to do a re-jet, so i'll find out in the next week or so.
I got the bike totally stock apart from the screen put on it :)

Hate to break this to you but fork seals and brakes wear out. If they were leaking at the time of sale they should have been picked up by you. Pretty easy to replace.
Yeah the fork seals are a routine service item, and it's not like you can just keep topping up the level like if it was an oil seal on the motor. When you do replace that seal, a little more preload (maybe a add a spacer) and some 15w oil works a treat for an otherwise crap front end. Firming up the front end and putting better rubber on it was the best money I've spent on the bike.
Chain was never cleaned or lubed in 4500kms, it was a complete mess.
Also much later when I removed the tank I found out that there were no hoses passing by the clamps attached to the air filter, I tried to figure out when they were supposed to start from but didn't find them, any tips? :icon_razz:
Mine had problems with the exhaust bolts to. 2 holes was damaged, and in 1 abandoned the broken bolt. Carbs was messed, leaking gaskets, forks with no oil, no rear brakes and overheated rear disc, messed wiring, plenty of problems with gearbox, all dirty, and many of other stupid things that i cant remember now..
So my PO was horrible to.. I cant understand how some peoples able to make things like that :dunno_black:

I know there is one that goes from the upper "T" on the carbs and clapms on the airbox on one of the filter bolts - is that what you're taling about? There is a diagram that somebody posts on here that might be helpful

I'd say a GS with a bad engine is a lemon. How many people on this forum have had a GS die after 11,000 miles? Probably not many. There was a ton of stuff that had to be fixed to get my POS bike on the road.
