I love my bike! Its my ride, my hobby and my way to clear my head and relax.
I'm not the best mechanic, but I do like tinkering and playing around with it trying my make it look unique. I've seen lots of great bikes that inspire me to try new things with my bike.
Thought this would a great thread to show off the Streetfighters (or wanna be streetfighters in my case lol)
Post a pic, share upcoming projectors or mods you want to do or are considering. Lets inspire each other!

I really want to swap the existing bulb for an HID projector
Also, considering some bar ends and maybe swap the tail.
Share your bikes, let me steal... I mean be inspired by your bikes.
I don't consider it a streetfighter, but I did some work to mine. With a more aggressive tail and a few other little things I think it would be closer to one though.

Do it! it's not too complicated. That white bike above has pretty much the same tail. There's a lot of cooler tails out there to pick from too.
Scottychop:
First question: Does "GSXF" stand for "GS eXperimental 'Fighter"?
Any chance you'd care to enlighten us on the mods to your GS450E? You could avoid threadjacking this by starting a new thread with the details... What front-end did you use? How hard was it to make these double-disks fit? Did you machine those adapters, or pay someone? You know the drill...
I've got a friend with a nice '80 E; he claims if he ever wrecks it, he's going to make a streeter out of it, so I e-mailed him the link to this thread. I won't even take a guess about your exhaust system, but I'm pretty sure I see a GS5 swingarm out back in among that single-shock conversion you've done...
Do you still have that fighter? If so, any chance I can ride it someday, IF I ever get to Seattle? Hey man, write it up so we can appreciate your handiwork...
Last question: Got any more photos for us?
noober
I love that back whee. I'd gladly ride a drum brake to use that wheel haha.
All of suzuki's model codes stand for something. I'm pretty sure GS is for dual overhead cams, x is for 4 cylinder, r for race, f, well I guess full fairing maybe? I know that doesn't help out here though because it's clearly a naked twin cylinder haha.
This is mine :D

Waiting for new headlight and turn signals. Later planing to fit straight handlebars with barend mirrors and maybe new paint..
Also planing to make my own thread to show all the works that i have done with it :thumb:
I'm digging all these fighters and plan on remodeling my F when it gets warmer out here. I am enjoying fairing/windscreen too much right now w the crazy wind we've been having.
I won't hijack the thread, but....
It's a GSXF (Katana) rear swinger, GSXR rear shock and front forks, tail by me, disks by me, pipes by me. The thread is on GSResources:

What really is the definition of a "street fighter"?
Do you really fight? Are they for jousting?
To me, half of them are how hacked up and ugly you can make your bike. "fugley" is probably the only word I can use that's not filtered out.
"Cafe Racer" I understand and read the history on the cafe racer site. Very interesting history! That makes sense: make the bike light and fast so you can get free beer.
Actor Huggy Leaver is credited with being inspired to build such customized motorcycles in this style and there was a proliferation of 'ratted' streetfighters in London around the late 1980s. The term streetfighter was first applied to a custom street bike by a British photojournalist and bike builder to a Harley-Davidson customized sports-bike, and later extended to the Japanese four-cylinder customs being created at the time.
Though it has its styling roots in the Café racer culture of the 1950s and 1960s, the streetfighter is very much inspired by the new Japanese bikes of the late 1970s and early 1980s, possibly from young riders in the UK who couldn't afford to replace damaged fairings after repeated crashes. Later, more appropriate headlights were added, then high handlebars to aid in wheelies and other stunts.
The word does get tossed around a lot, and a lot of people like to toss out the fairings from their gsxr, stick on one of those $30 ebay headlights and call it a streetfighter, which definitely offends the people but put a ton of work into making their bike into something. Sportbikes are fun, but clearly they aren't meant for the street. I think the idea of a streetfighter is just to take a sportbike, keep the strong engine and good handling/suspension, but make it more useful for the street. Put some normal handlebars on it, ditch the fairing that you don't need when you're on the street, and make it look how you want. These are the kinds of bikes I think of when I think about a streetfighter....

Although I'm not partial to extended swingarms. I guess they could come in use if you live in a town where everything is straight. There's also a pretty big debate about whether 'factory fighters' should be considered real streetfighters... speed triples, buells, whatever else. I don't see the big fuss though, considering that's exactly what they are, sportbikes made for the street.
I like them both. But then again, I subscribe to SF mag, and am on Custom Fighters all day. Not sure I would build one again, but love the concept of someone doing a GS500 just right. Any idea what tail is on the blue one?
I'm not sure which tail it is, but I've seen it on a good amount of bikes so i'm sure you could find one if you browsed around some of the websites that sell streetfighter bodywork/parts.

Clean the wheels with alcohol or something else so no grease.
Buy rim tapes of the right diameter
You can but rim tape in a roll with an applicator so it doesn't make any difference what diameter your wheels are. When I buy 17" tapes, they include a couple extra pieces.

adi, I understand all of that...but if you look at the GS wheel there are indentations around the rim where the wheel info is printed so the tape does not cover these areas 100%

A sneak peek at my new shaved top clamp and vortex clipon setup.
top clamp looks goooood! If you wanted it perfectly smooth you could put a layer of bondo on it and sand it flat(would fill in the old bolt holes as well). You could also get some of those button head allen head bolts so you wouldn't need the red spacers, would give it a nice finished look....
As far as the rim tape, I'd just try to find something to fill in those gaps, bondo again?? haha that's apparently my answer for everything.
Actually I didn't need the red washer but I have a red washer theme going throughout the bike so I thought I would put them there to add some color but those stock bolts stick out of the washer like bulging nipples :icon_mrgreen: so I think I'm going to find some flat head screws to match the other washer/ flat head screw combos on the bike.
Don't know what to do about the wheel. I had the rim tape on them then removed them because of those indentations but I think I like them flat back like that unless there is a very simple solution.
bandit wheel? OK.
I guess I'm too much of a noobie to know why to use a Bandit wheel rather than a GS500 wheel (which doesn't have all that stuff in the rim).
But that explains it. Bondo, expoxy or something. Or paint the rim instead of using tape?
The bandit wheel lets you use a bigger rear tire, I wanna saw a 160mm wide.
I was also gonna say you could just paint the edge of the rim too.

While I can say I'm not really into street fighters, I ran across this headlamp that would look good on one or just a regular naked bike. Should Trey get one? You'd have to fabricate something for turn signals (to stay legal) but that should be no problem at all.
(Ouch! Just found they are $499 >:( )
Then I found these clip-ons. They mount below the tripple and go around and above the tripple. This means you can have clip-ons and not have to adjust the forks (if you don't want the factory style)
Pretty cool I think!
