1) light(on-off)switch
(http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad44/citygs/IMG_1932.jpg)
Very very nice mod---no starting problems any more, including cold time. This 50-55 watt bulb is really ''heavy'' for gs electric ability. By-pass the white wire(headlight low beam).Headlight flasher switch(pass) works fine even with light switch off.
2) seat modification
(http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad44/citygs/IMG_1946.jpg)
It's better now--much more comfortable for rider--but i haven't tried the seat for many kms yet--so. i'll let you know after the first long trip...
I gave the seat to a special shop to do the job. They added foam to passenger's(more wider now) and rider's part too. They kept the original rider's shape cause i like it but seat is higher at least 1 inch and they added foam to the very front part of the seat, where it tauches the tank...
3)''homemade'' footpeg lowering kits with stock pegs
right side
(http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad44/citygs/IMG_1942.jpg)
left side
(http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad44/citygs/IMG_1936.jpg)
The idea was mine but ''stolen'' :icon_rolleyes: from some alluminium footpeg lowering kits on ebay etc...Each kit consists of three steel parts(extensions, bracket, mount). All the work was done to Blacksmith's. I painted the kits :dunno_white:--fail, i shouldn't...
I can use passenger's pegs too but nothing is more comfortable than stock pegs, really... ;).
More room now, 2 inches lower--great difference. :thumb:Combined with higher seatt and it's a different bike now....
But i had to readjust clutch lever and break pedal(up to the limit).
4) cigarette lighter
first the wire( with in line fuse 20A) connected to battery terminals
(http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad44/citygs/IMG_1948.jpg)
and the ''marine'' socket
(http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad44/citygs/IMG_1949.jpg)
The socket is kept in topbox for now...
This is a 4ah battery i use for a month now, from my little honda cub-- it works until now...but she doesn't like the lights on...
and finally..
5) five more horses for my gs
(http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad44/citygs/IMG_1943.jpg)
ok, really good performance--gear changes for gs with torco 10-40 semisynthetic until now. Very dissapointed was i, with the motul oil --sorry but that is my feeling...
keep on :D :D
Love the switch, where did you get it?
From a local shop with motoparts for about 4$ but i think you can find it on ebay, too. It's a cheap universal type. I don't remember the exact brand--it is something asian i believe(chinese)... Hope it will last.... :dunno_black:

Yes, it looks pretty cheap. But a neat way to mount a switch for something.
nice mods man :thumb: i was thinking about doing a headlight on off switch, just for the convenience. now i may have to so she starts easier in this cold wet PNW weather.
Mikey
Do it and you won't regret it! :thumb:
Nice post, Soto. Like the headlight switch mod. Any chance of posting a few pics showing how your luggage rack picks up to the bike frame? Cheers.
I thought '05+ had head light interrupters built in the wiring already? I'm still having trouble with cold starts even with a fresh battery. I'm guessing the carbs need a really good cleaning and maybe I expected too much to try to start it on a sub-freezing day when it was probably 35F in the garage.
Which Motul oil were you using?
Michael

There is not light switch(on-off) for mine but maybe you mean an in line ''automatic'' interupter working the moment when you are startind the bike? :dunno_black: But if so, it doesn't help too much...

motul 5100 15-50 and 10-40.
It isn't my intension to harm motul--people told me to use castrol, aral, valvoline, torco etc...i'm just happy with torco for now.
Tx heaps for the rack mount pics. Really appreciated.

Thats what I thought too, but mine is an '05 and I'm 99% sure the headlight does NOT go out when starting.

I used the Motul 5100 and was quite pleased with it. Smooth changes, no false neutrals. I've switched to Motul 300V and it's even better :thumb: Of course, I live in a climate similar to Florida so maybe that has something to do with it. :dunno_black:

Mine is an '07, and I'm 100% sure the headlight DOES go out when starting. Just checked it last night after reading this thread.
Maybe I'm not looking at it the right way... but the seat "looks" same as the stock one. But you say it feels better... that is all that matters. How much did they charge to do the work?

Hey very nice switch you hane there... :thumb:
I post two more pics of seat on a different bike.... :o
(http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad44/citygs/IMG_1957.jpg)
and yes, with that seat, my next trip will be with the little honda cub... :D
(http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad44/citygs/IMG_1958.jpg)
There are some differernces from stock but not easily noticeable...
There is a little ''dent'' in passenger's part,so she/he cannot move in rider's place when i break---more foam inserts in all seat lenght, wider passenger's part...
new foam feels softier than stock, hope it will last it's shape... no gel inserts at all just foam
cost: 35 euros-pretty good , the cheapest i could find but many riders went there and were satisfied with the guy... :dunno_black:
