Title: Suzuki Tank Decal Font and Size?
Post by: utgunslinger13 on April 02, 2011, 02:08:22 PM
I have a 1990 GS500 that I'm repainting and I want to put the suzuki tank decal back on.  Problem is they are $34 total to order from Suzuki! Does anyone know what font is simliar/exactly like the one used from the factory?  Also, what size font or dimensions are the stickers?  I can have a friend make these up for me for uber cheap or I could make a stencil and just paint them on myself.

Thanks,

Nick

Found on internet: "The SUZUKI font is an edit version of Helvetica 93 Black Extended The "K" has been edited to customise the SUZUKI to avoid Royalties from the Font Creator."

Or are you talking about the "S" logo?  That you can just download a picture of it and resize however you like.  (then again so can the 'suzuki')

I was looking for the "SUZUKI" logo.  I found one online that seems to be the font used in the stock decal, now just need the actual dimensions to make sure this prints the right size.

If you're painting, why not just use the on-line versions as a template for a mask to overspray with the main colour???

In case thats not clear, I mean similar to pinstriping where you'd paint the area with thte colour you want SUZUKI to be written in - then stick on your mask and spray the entire tank with the main colour.  Remove the mask and you'll have stickers that won't ever fall off! :thumb:

If you just want the word SUZUKI, why not just buy the original? About $15 each.

Check out this link. I have used these and clearcoated over on past projects with no problems.

Original post said I already checked the dealership, no way in hell I'm paying $34 for 2 decals that cost no more than $0.30 to make.

I was hoping to save time by buying cheap decals and not having to go through the trouble to mask it, plus I already had painted the base coat when I decided to do this.  I went ahead and made a stencil from the link I posted above and just painted them on.
