So I started looking into added a clock to my instrument cluster. Then I thought maybe I should add a voltmeter too and maybe a thermometer. Anyway, I found all kinds of different options and I thought I'd go here to find some direction. I don't think I want to change my whole cluster, I'm ok just attaching them to my handlebars. But I would probably stick to just a voltmeter and clock then. Does anyone has suggestions?

This is what I've found for the type of voltmeter I like. But they are probably more expensive than its worth to me. I've seen lots of other analog gauges too. I'll keep looking but I just figured I'd see what other people have done.

I like the voltmeter/clock/thermometer combos. They aren't waterproof, but usually do fine tucked inside the windshield. I don't have mine mounted on my GS500f yet, but here is it mounted on my old VFR:

Another different option would be adding a bicycle computer, several models have a thermometer, AFAIK all models have a clock.
Besides that, you would also be able to record average and top speeds and more precise measurements of current speed.
What I've seen people recomending for bikes are the Sigma Computeres(wired ones), because it can measure speeds up to 300km/h. I got the Sigma 1609, but I'm still waiting for it to arrive(international shipping).
No windshield on the 500E so I think I need something thats good and waterproof. My roommate went with a bicycle computer for his track bike but he hasn't broke it out. You'll have to let me know how yours works out.
I don't think there any way of it not working as it should... The only kind of mod necessary is gluying a small neodymium magnet to the disc brake, getting a clamp or zip ties to hold the sensor(because the forks are wider) and maybe, if the wire is not long enough, extending it.

I've got a pile of older water-resistant wristwatches. Was planning to attach one to the tach face with velcro. When the battery goes, un-velcro and replace.
I really like that clock/temp/voltmeter combo... that's a great idea.
Ah yes, I had a bicycle spedo on my Kawasaki Concours, loved it. It was a sigma, didn't have a thermometer though. It was nice to have an exact read out of my speed, instead of having to use the analog gauge.
Huge bump here, but I installed the Sigma BC1609 on my bike 2 days ago, works just fine.
I had to make the wire a bit longer, and I happen to have one magnet that could fit exactly inside one of the disc holes

I still had to glue it because as the disc rotated the magnet was attracted to the thing that holds the brake pads.
To attach the sensor I used the o-ring it came with(with some effort) and one zip tie.
I didn't have to measure the distance the bike traveled in one wheel turn because I found specs of the tire that mention external diameter(589mm), on average, I'd say the speedometer on the bike reads about 8% higher than the actual speed.

I wanted to use 2 zip-ties, but as you can see, not possible where I attached it, but together with the o-ring looks ok.
