Title: Oil Coolers on '04 Model
Post by: flunger on November 10, 2003, 01:29:15 PM
Who out there has seen the '04 GS with the oil cooler?  I am wondering where it plumbs into the motor, and if it is something that could be fitted to '02 and previous models.   Reports?  Opinions?  Blather?

We're not sure yet if it work on earlier models as we don't know if anything was changed internally. This would be just conjecture, but if you were to do so, you would need to purchase the oil pan, lines and radiator, holes may need to be drilled in the frame for the bolts to mount the radiator, and the horn will have to be relocated. The drilling will require removal of the forks to get the space needed for the angle. The wiring harness will have to be rerouted as well. '99 and earlier models will have to lose the mechanical tach, as the cable would just melt on the radiator, and there is simply no other way to route it around without it binding up and ruining the cable.

i'm really confused  :?  how many valves per cylinder does it have now 2 or 4? maybe if it's 4 it would be possible to mount the valves/camshaft/ (the whole top) onto older gs models?
