I'll preface this that I'm new to bikes and this could be totally normal but just in case, I'd like to know if the ticking sound you hear in this video is standard. I've browsed YouTube and the forums looking at videos and I can't seem to find one that has this sound, which gets me paranoid.
It's a '94 with just over 25,000 kms and overall runs well, except being hard to start in the cold.

Hard to tell. It doesn't sound like it changes in frequency with the throttle twisted?
Not really, it's just kind of there. Steady. It sounds louder in the video than it really is because I put the camera right there but at 80-90km/ph I can hear it pretty plain.
Al gs's engines works little loud, but i think yours is to loud. What about valves, did you checked them?
Maybe a bad alternator, but my e-crystal ball is a bit foggy. Hope it is not the beginning of "goats".

valves would change tempo wouldn't they?
Sounds like a normal GS engine to me :dunno_black:

To me, there seems to be a lot of scraping or grinding noise going on.

The ticking sound sounds similar to the ticking sound mine makes. I can't say it's not bad as I tried to figure that out and never came to a conclusion, but my bike seemed to work fine (until of course I crashed it).
Think you should check for excessive valve clearences and cam chain tension.
