Title: Stock Black Paint, '02
Post by: Twism86 on April 14, 2011, 06:36:24 AM
Has anyone used a paint that closely matches the black on an '02 E? My front fender is scratched up a bit and i want to re paint it. Its not terrible and I can live with it but if i ever sell I would like it perfect. Thanks.

Tom

I think Krylon Fusion for Plastic in black will work.

I will paint right over the old paint, after a wash and light sanding. I just want something with the metallic look that the tank has.

There is also the pearl novelty black that has a little subtle sparkle to it used on other years:

They are pricey - but are an exact match. Just look at Junior - original tank. Painted seat cowling and headlight. Going to make a matching red belly pan as soon as we have a day above 50 decrees F
They do have touch up pens. Eastwood has all the sanding and finishing things you need. They have a cool drip file that is on a small block of wood. Specially cut file to remove drips and not file into flat surfaces. Pretty cool and very useful. "nib file". Also have nice fine disposable touch up brushes.
