Title: 89 GS500E Re Jet?
Post by: NathanJP on April 14, 2011, 06:44:28 AM
What size jet would you guys recommend for an '89 gs500e with a lunchbox and a stock (but hollowed out) exhaust. The previous owner took all the baffles out. Anyway I'm wondering what size jets I should get and where I can get them from.  :D

Here you go: http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Upgrades.Rejetting

Personally, I feel that the stock muffler sounds embarrassing and cheap with the baffles drilled/cut. Even a cheap compact car fart can from eBay would sound better than that.

If its truly been cored into working like an aftermarket pipe - then 150/40/1 washer/3 turns/float to top of bowl etc. I sell a kit, $25 shipped in US but you can get em @ any store/dealer.
If its not as free flowing as a aftermarket pipe then it is very hard to jet.
Cool.

Would it be better to go with straight pipes? It's being worked into a street fighter anyway, and I've been debating just cutting it right before the muffler or modifying a slip on to fit.
