So I had a bad encounter on my GS500F with some sand and gravel in a curve and well to make a long story short I need a new tank and right side rear tail section. I have noticed that in both cases the GS500E parts seem to be more available and cheaper. My question is will the tank and the tail section from the E fit on the F?
Thanks for any help,
Lee
If i remember right, it won't be a direct bolt on for the E tank and tail to fit the F... BUT you can make it fit with just a little work. The F seat with rub on both sides of the E tank.
They are definitely different between the E and F.
The naked 01-02 GS500 tank and tail parts should be the same as F parts.
1st and 2nd generation bodywork is not compatible, but anything after 2001 will work on your F model. Suzuki stopped importing the E model in the US in 2003, but continued to sell it elsewhere around the world.
Yes. The difference is not between e and f models but pre-2001 models and 2001-later models. E and f are compatible from 2001 onward.
Actually, it is compatible to swap for older stuff, but then it means seat, tank and tail, tail lights and the rails from under the seat that the tail light bolts to. I wouldn't do it, if it was me. I swapped my 98 over to 2006 bodywork.
Thanks for the help. I may attempt to make the E tank work just to give myself a new project. And if you know of anyone with either of these parts let me know.
