I caught a break and found a tank to suit my needs so I am no longer following this one:

I just thought I would post it just in case anyone has been looking.
I'm sure Streebek is just sharing a find with the rest of the community... but having seen a lot of scams, I have to warn any possible buyers/bidders. The seller is using the oldest trick in the book when it comes to selling rusted out old tanks. You lock the tank and throw the key away and tell the buyer.. "oh sorry... I can't find the key..... so no guarantees about whether or not you are buying a pin hole ridden / rusted on the inside piece of junk.. BUT she sure looks clean and pretty on the outside :icon_twisted:". Automatically a rusted old pos becomes a $100-$200 tank instead of $10 or $15 worth of scrap metal.
Disclaimer: Yes, I'm selling another tank myself.... but I'm always upfront about the stuff I sell and the condition it is in. No gimmicks/hidden surprises. Anyone who has bought anything from me knows that very well :)
Just sharing indeed. I have been tracking tanks for a few weeks now and this is the second one with the same problem. no key. however this seller actually replied to my message asking to take the cap off and take a look inside. I didnt reply to their message because i have found a tank off a fellow Twinner.
And believe me this is not my posting. My rusty POS doesn't look this pretty on the outside. lol
They can remove the petcock and look inside with a small camera or mirror. The appearance of the condition of the petcock would give some indication of the inside condition, too.
I think you can also push open the fuel cap from the inside or with a long, thin screwdriver take it apart so the tank can open up.
But yes, saying you can't see in the tank is suspicious. At least they could show a photo of the bottom of the tank. That tank has already been repainted because there is no Suzuki logo on it.
Slight surface rust is OK. After all, an empty tank is bare steel. Pitting, chunks of rust or a re-coating are a bad sign.
