I was checking out accessories for my GS when I came accrossed a toe chain guard. I looked around to find out what they do and came up short. So I had an idle :icon_idea:Ask my friends on the GS forum.
So what is and what does a toe chain guard do????
Protect your toes from the chain :flipoff:
No they are really designed for bikes who have race style/aggressive rear sets on them as your toes are placed closer to the chain or if you fall off while on the track. Not really applicable on a GS with stock pegs other than looks. I think adidasguy has a R&G one on one his GS's.
Yes, mostly for that "cool" factor. Although when cleaning a chain, it does keep the fingers out of the sprocket should you turn the wheen and the rag gets caught. For racing, they keep the toes out of there - hence the name - toe guards.
I just think they look freaking cool. One of those little things that makes it MY bike and different from all the others. Also makes it look like something more than "just a GS500" when others see it around Alki beach. Though, here in Seattle, we don't care what you're riding. Good riding days are so few that we're just happy to see anyone out there and we wave to everyone, too!
Here's one on Junior - on the swing arm back by the rear sprocket:

Actually, they all have them. Suzi has a black one to match the black swing arm. Trey will get his this weekend. Weather just tool cold lately to lay down and drill & tap the holes to put it on him.
They do look cool but I think it would just be another thing for me to clean back there lol

That is a great looking bike :thumb:
