This is my First GS500 and bike
I have only 164 KM on it but I notice that it back fires sometimes .
I have notice when I first start it up and sometimes on a down shift it back fires is this normal or should I take it back to the dealer for them to look at ?

Back firing on shut throttle is semi normal.
Open throttle or steady throttle = lean misfire. That = rejet, most nothing you can do can cure that. Dont take it to dealer for that, DIY, dont buy a DJ kit, but 20/132.5/washer and set it to 3 turns. More details are in the faq/wiki etc. Or search too.
If you have trouble getting those from your dealer, PM me, I sell em in a pack $25 shipped.
Cool.
Buddha.
If it is it a brand new bike then take it back.
Otherwise... check valves (how many clicks on the bike) and tune will need adjusting.

Is it an actual BANG! backfire or a snap crackle and pop on deceleration? If it is the latter it is just after run and normal. If it is the first, you have issues.
It seems to be when its idling around 1000 RPM and I rev it up it back fires or when i down shift to 3rd gear .only 3rd gear
It seems to be a pop
