Title: Thinking about reflective wheel tape....
Post by: TCARZ on April 23, 2011, 07:50:43 PM
Is it easy to put on and where do you get it?  I'm all for making my bike  more visible, plus it looks kinda cool.

I was thinking of the same thing...but I was just going to get some reflective tape and put a piece every few inches...when the wheel is turning it will look like the whole thing is done... :embarrassed:

Might look a little dorky when you are parked though...??

I've seen it online, but not in stores...but I didn't ask at the counter...check e-bay...

Later.

Reflective tape: all over flea bay. Get for 17" wheels. Suzi has it.

I used this guide to apply my rim tape. I didn't use the reflective stuff though, just went and bought some normal pin-striping.

Get normal pinstriping tape rather than the curved pieces...

Get yourself laid at the side of the wheel with the wheel off the deck but your head resting on it, then you can keep a fixed reference and keep the line straight, you'll only have one joint then and you could even interrupt the stripe with a suzuki sticker :thumb:

^^ yea its colored strips but has a "3M" material backing. Essentially, it looks a color in the daylight but when light (from a headlight, etc) hits it, it bounces back.

I used the the stuff that's marketed for M/C wheels.  It comes with a small plastic applicator.  With it both wheels were relatively easy as long as you have them raised and can turn them freely.  I used the 7mm wide variety.

All over flea bay. You can get reflective in any color. Comes in 17" diameter as 4 or 5  pieces per wheel with an extra couple pieces in case you mess up. Used it on Suzi and originally on Junior. Works great. Very reflective.
Just search for "reflective wheel tape" or something similar.
