im riding my gs about to enter the parkway and i start getting on it and at about 6000rpm it shoots up to 9000rpm with no pull in between and im forced to switch gears so it doesnt red line...it continues to do this thru every gear anywhere above 5 6000 rpm....i would assume its the clutch slipping but i really have no experiences or information to base it on....any help would be great
Classic clutch slip symptoms. Check adjustment at all 3 points.
Check your clutch cable etc as Paulcet said...Hopefully that's your fix..
If that's all in order...did you recently do an oil change? If so...did you use the right oil...motorcycle specific (No friction modifiers...)?
yea did the oil change couple weeks ago,i used the castrol motorcycle oil from autozone...........what are the three points you mentioned in the clutch...
At the clutch lever, top of the sprocket cover, and the side (?) of the sprocket cover.
If you adjust it and still hve the problem, your cable could be on the verge of snapping.
Stretched cable would cause difficult shifts, hard to find neutral. Sticky cable might cause slipping.
Crap- Paulcet, you're right.
I went from one extreme to the other last year. Cable not adjusted (slipping at high rpm's) to having the cable snap (after constant adjusting).
wow ive got all those symptoms for sure....neutral is a pain to get into....hard shifts...now slipping in high gears, guess its time to change the cable, any threads on here show how to do it??.......now that i think of it my clutch releases really high on the lever maybe an adjustment willl do it
