Good afternoon boys and girls. I was wondering if anybody has tried Icon's Stryker vest? It's getting hot here in Virginia, and I don't want to go full squid but I am looking to get some gear that lets more air in than my Tourmaster jacket. I was thinking armor vest, arm pads, maybe some leg pads so I can wear lighter jeans. Any thoughts, tips, reviews, suggestions? The stryker vest is a little less protection than I'm comfortable with. Even with additional armpads, that usually will leave the shoulders and upper arm exposed. The hat trick jacket flows a nice amount of air, even in humid parts of maryland! I upgraded the backpad too.

Is your current jacket a full-mesh jacket? If not, why not try one of those? I've never found myself hot while moving in my mesh jackets.

I like that vest. whenthe weather is cold out I would wear my Teknic Full leather jacket with regular pants and riding boots. when its hot out I will just wear my leather vest that hasno padding what so ever. never really though about what IF I go down why would I wanna jinx myself. Ride with what ever makes you comfy that way you can focus on riding.
My tourmaster is a full mesh jacket, and when I remove the liner it's reasonably cool while driving, but it overheats very quickly at a stop, and unfortunately in northern virginia there's a whole lot of traffic due to neverending construction.
Well, I don't think too many people have weather more hotter or nastier than Central Florida in August. My GxAir does well most of time from Cortech. But, when it is OMG I'm in hell days. I sport this!

Better protection for your limbs, the back looks pretty good. The front isn't as heavy duty but I rarely hear of anyone crashing and landing on their chest. Most riding jackets don't even have chest padding. Keep in mind that direct sunlight on your skin is going to start to burn worse than any heat built up in a mesh jacket. Finding a white or silver one will help as well.

There's your problem right thar. You're using it while Driving. Such jackets should only be used while Riding :thumb:
My weather down under is similar to that of Florida. My DriRider jacket is fine - remove both liners and no matter how hot, it's bearable. Sure it gets a little toastier in stop/go - my black helmet doesn't help - but so what? If I want air conditioned comfort I'll take the car.

If you want extra coolness with protection, also try damping down your shirt; get a kevlar pullover and ride in that (won't stop impacts but supposed to stop abrasions); get one of those neck things you soak in water and put in the freezer; buy an ice vest; maybe a leather vest with the kevlar pullover underneath; or the vest you suggested with the kevlar pullover underneath.
