Title: Help!
Post by: loobear on April 25, 2011, 09:48:08 AM
 Hi,
My 1990 GS500 has developed a fault and Ive ran out of ideas on whats wrong so I would greatly appreciate any assistance.
The bike was running fine when it stopped firing on the right hand cylinder. (As I look down)
I manage to get the bike home on one cylinder and check the plugs, coil, leads etc but nothing seemed wrong. I went back to it the next day and it started and ran fine but again after about 15 miles I lost the same cylinder, no spark at all.
I then replaced the coil on that side but that hasnt worked and I know its a good coil bacause it works fine on the other cylinder. All electrical connections seem good so Im now at a loss. I dont really want to get a mechanic involved bacause Im on a bit of a tight budget.
One thing that I did notice is that the coil on the right was getting quite hot whilst the one on the good side was cool.
Any Ideas?

Sounds like your pulse generator is faulting when hot.  There was a thread on here a few days ago about this.
