Hey everyone im looking to upgrade my MC, the stock one sucks. Lacking in feel, Not enough pressure, Not linear enough. Im looking an an Accossato 16x18 forged with a folding lever. I already have Galfer HH pads, and Galfer ss lines. Any input?
I'm running an SV650 Master cylinder on mine... a bit of a bracket to make for the reservoir but pretty easy swap and compatible (sort of) with the GS rear part of the clamp to retain the mirror post.
Bear in mind though that the SV650 has 2 calipers as the same as the GS's 1 so the lever is more superbike than learner bike! :thumb:
When I had the stock front end, I ran the stock M/C with Stainless Steel lines, a SV Calliper, race pads, and high temp fluid. It worked unbelievably well, with excellent feel and modulation.
If you're running the stock lines, I'd advise you to install SS lines before replacing the master cylinder. If you're running old (12 month or older) brake fluid, I'd suggest you do that first. A calliper rebuild can help immensely.
Take a look at the brake setup in my sig, and consider it. Remember that I raced on this setup, and could lift the rear tire at will. It would probably be less expensive than the Accossato M/C, and if you decided you needed more, it would work great.
BTW... The SV M/C would probably be a good match to our brake system.
Thanks for the input! I really wanted a nice peice on my bike so i ended up ordering the Accossato forged 16x18 w/ folding lever, it should be here early may so there will definatly be a write up on its way.

Heyy everyone, time for the update! I just installed the Accossato 16x18mm Radial master cylinder with folding lever and all i can say is wow!!!!! Amazing feel, very responsive, a little bit sensitive until you get used to it, and the quality of the part is flawless, its well made, solid, and theres no play in the lever. on the downside though i tend to ride quite hard, so i got used to the bike and performed some high speed hard brake applications from 100-40 mph and the rotor was smoking and faintly glowing red. it appears the stock rotor isnt designed for the braking pressures my brake and front suspension system is set up for. Time for a galfer wave rotor =]

Better pads will help, as will a better approach to riding. The GS500 doesn't go fast enough to normally put that kind of stress on the rotors. Keep the corner speed up. :)
I thought the galfer HH pads were pretty good, they had a great initial bite, but the braking pressure seemed to not be so strong after contact. it could just be in my head, what would you reccommend?
That's been my experience racing on the Galfer HH. EBC HH isn't any better, in my experience. A more endurance oriented pad like the EBC Extreme pros will be more consistent and significantly more progressive, but there will be a lot less initial bite (which might make you feel like the pads are weaker.)
Try different options, and find the one that works best for you.
