Hey all,
I'm having to part out my 2004 GS500f.
I ran it low on oil during a 500+ mile trip so there's a knock coming from the lower end of the motor, near the sprocket. I've been told by mechanic's that I've probably toasted the main bearings and possibly the crankshaft, and maybe balancer bearings. I've been quoted between $400 - $800 just to dismantle and diagnose the problem, plus another $800 to fix and reassemble. I bought the bike for $1800 and can't see putting almost that back in to it just to fix it. Plus, I just separated my shoulder so I won't even be able to ride for maybe as long as a year. So short story, long... I've got to get rid of the bike. Before I started to dismantle, the motor ran with no ticking / noises coming from the top end, no loss in power, and no sign of oil burning / leaking. The rest of the bike is pretty much in great condition. Here's the prices I think are fair for the parts. Please feel free to comment / ask questions / counter offer / etc...
I'm trying to sell on craigslist too so any insight or advise on what I'm doing would be great! Here's my cl posting:

I'd be interesting in the chain sprockets, engine and back wheel, as long as they where in good shape.
Hi, How much for the cylinder head. 94568 Thanks
Thanks for the heads up on the CL link. [fixed]
I think I have buyers for the head and the fairings, if not I'll PM those interested. Whatever I have sold so far I'll show on the list here and keep updating.
Thanks.
I need the little switch under the clutch that tells the bike its pulled in.... Just the part that is held in by two screws.
How about $8 and I'll mail it to you in an envelope? Where's it going?
Hey,
How much would you want for the tail and seat? Are you willing to ship overseas to europe?
Please clarify what you mean by "tail". The seat I'll sell for $50. As far as shipping oversea, I wouldn't even know where to start.

With tail i mean the rear fairings that are behind the seat.
Shipping overseas is quite easy, just walk to some post office and say "this box to europe thanks" ;)
Are the forks still available? One of my forks is pitted and it leaks oil, even with new seals.

Do you need both? I really only need one tube. One of mine is pitted.
Unforktunately (groan) I am looking for two of 'em. But you have first dibs. Post here so we can know if they are sold. :)
Interested in Jardine exhaust. I may be able to pick up locally if your in Stockton. I think I sent you a pm.
interested in front fairings( with brackets), sprockets, chain and levers
Okay, sorry for being unresponsive. My priorities have shifted because I'm also moving and trying to tie up loose ends on other projects, so I've been detached from the internet for a few days. I'm trying to make myself available soon to get these parts ready to ship. Thanks for your patience. Everyone that's PM'd me, I will update...
Does anyone know if the clutch lever is the same for pre-01 models? If so, I'd be interested in this. 19070.
Do you have the front brake lever mount. IE the part with the master cylinder, that the mirror screws into and the brake lever is connected to?
If so how much?
I need it because I snapped a mirror off when the wind knocked my bike over... the mirror is fine but the mount is damaged and wont hold it.
Having separated both shoulders in within 3 months of each other i'd say you'd prolly be out of the game about 3-4 months. PM sent.
How much for all the plastic, front fairing, seat, gas tank and gauges shipped to 73165

Hello all, sorry for being so sluggish with this parting out process. I realize I've probably been one of the most complicated and inconvenient sellers, but it's my first time selling anything on this website as well as my first time parting out a bike. My lack of experience in concert with my life being turned upside down this year, has made if difficult for me to stay on top of this process. None-the-less; I still have parts available for those of you with enough patience to deal with me. Here is a link to my craigslist ad where I have listed most of the parts I still have left, along with a few pictures. Please PM me if you want my attention fast, otherwise I will try my best to respond to comments on the board. Thanks for your interest.
Here's the link for the parts list:

Honesty in advertising...
All parts are in good working condition, straight, clean,

Don't look to clean to me.
Michael
Maybe their going to clean them before they ship out (I would hope). It does look like the parts went mudding though.

Yep. As if the bike had been submerged :o
Am I to understand the OP is claiming their parts are clean?? And that's a picture of their stuff? Wow.
Are you all seriously ripping into me for dusty parts. C'mon, grow up.
These parts have been sitting in storage for a year in a dust bowl called the "Central Valley". If anyone is interested in a particular part, I will remove the dust and photo the part from a few angles. If it's satisfactory to an interested buyer, then we proceed. The photo's on the craigslist ad were just to demonstrate what I have left and that I actually have said parts in possession.
When I said "clean", I meant no cosmetic flaws.... once again, the dust will be removed prior to shipping.
Just for the record, the bike has never been off road, or under water.
To answer a previous question, yes I have the title to the bike (and it's not salvaged).
For what it's worth, I've sold parts to two local GStwins members, have shipped out parts to a craigslist buyer, and sold many more in person to local buyers. Everyone has been satisfied, and I'm sure I could get those buyers to vouch for me if necessary.
Thanks again to everyone who has shown interest in parts, and sorry I didn't get back to some of you in time.
Looks like typical garage stored-for-a-while dusty dust to me - and socal is a dusty dusty place, not clean and fresh and shiny like u see on tv and the movies, cuz as we all know it never rains in southern california.

Doyou still have the front & rear rims :icon_question:
Yes I do, they are black, with new rubber still attached. Tires are RoadWinner w/ 500 miles (just broke 'em in). They handle really well - I nearly drag a knee through the twisties, never had them slip. Most of my riding has been in the North Central area of California, that is; Hwy 36 / Wildwood Rd / Hwy 3... they handled it better than the stock tires.
Speaking of which, those of you who haven't made that ride should seriously consider it next summer.
And I digress... the rims are in good shape. I can dust them off and take better pics, if interested.
Do you have by any chance the Rear brake disc and calipers? if so how are they? I mostly need the disc.
front disk and pads = good... rear disk = bad, rear pads 75%, front & rear calipers = good
Is the Front Fender available still? What color is it. Also interested in the fuel lines and most importantly the CDI Ignition box and coils. Thanks ahead of time. I live just south of Seattle. If anybody else has these parts let me know also.
Pete
I need the left mirror.
