Title: Dominator Deluxe Bracket Fly-N-Cycle Diameter for a 2009 GS500?
Post by: GSProdigy on April 29, 2011, 08:05:13 PM
I have been Googling this for the past three hours, going through over 10 pages of searches on this forum alone and still not a definitive answer.

First question, most of the GS fork charts stop at the year 2000 with the diameters staying the same at 37mm. I am assuming it is still the 37mm on the 2009 model?

Second question, I have seen a few Es with the Fly-N-Cycle Deluxe Bracket. I plan to use it with the boring Dominator headlights but they do not give a mention of what size they purchased. On the website there is a 35mm and a 38mm. Do I run the risk of getting it too small or too big?

I was also considering getting the Aztec8 Brackets but its 30 bucks more and an extra shipping cost.

Thanks in advance,

Same size, every year.

While I can't speak for the bracket, if it goes over the forks you will want it too big rather than too small. Easier to find a small shim (beer can) than drilling it out 2mm.

The Dominator Twin headlights fit into the stock OEM 7 inch light bracket.

I dont have the OEM bracket as I have a F. I don't beleive they made 2009s non F, but correct me if I am wrong. It just seems to be alot easier getting an aftermarket than tracking down and restoring a factory one.

In the meantime I have another question. I was recently cornered on the highway by a car changing into my lane. Avoiding the car I switched into another lane in which at that exact instance the pick up truck in the lane I switched into slammed on the brakes. The car skidded, my brakes locked up and I slammed into the back of the pick up. Luckily only my headlight and fairing surrounding the headlight are broken. I literally thought about making it naked, so I guess God made it a reality. No damage to me other than a sore groin and a busted up shin.

Here comes my problem. My GS is my only form of transportation, I need a headlight solution to get to work until the parts come in the mail. I live in Central Florida so I am surprised at the lack of parts shops.

Any advice on ghetto rigging a AutoZone foglight as a temporary headlight? Is the wiring straight forward? This will only be for the daytime for speeds under 40mph.

buy a car headlight at auto parts store   and duct tape/zippy tie it on the bike for a couple days
