Title: Looking for Stock Airbox -- Tachometer (1990 GS500el)
Post by: Wrightboy on May 03, 2011, 11:51:56 AM
Hi guys,

Thanks to buddha I've discovered that I have some cheap pods on the carbs that I'm better off replacing with the stock box, so if anyone has an old airbox around they'd be willing to give up, cheaper the better.

Also my Tachometer is bouncing back and fourth while I ride so if anyone has an old one of those they'd be willing to sell just let me know.

Thanks,
Wright

how can you tell if the tach is broken?  how much is it bouncing around?

Well for starters it's reading high. I'm no sound expert so I can't tell how high. But when you're up past 6k or so it just sways back and forth about 1k. Thought it was broken...is that just normal road vibration?
Probably still need a new cable or something though since it's reading high.

I've got a stock airbox from a '92. The only thing is I will be out of town starting tomorrow and wouldn't be able to ship it until 5/16 at the earliest.

Sounds more like the cable than the tach.  Replace the cable first.  Then see if you still need a tach.  It might even be possible to open up the tach and adjust it (although Suzuki claims it's not "user serviceable," it has been done).
