Title: Oil change torque specs
Post by: jfoley on May 06, 2011, 09:48:03 PM
So I read about all The horrors of breaking studs while doing an oil change so I purchased a torque wrench. From what I gather, the torque specs for the oil filter nuts are 60 inch pounds. How much is the torque setting for the oil drain plug? Thx I will be doing this in the morning.

Hi,

20 - 25 Nm.   The crushable washer is sacrificial and really should be replaced each change.   Though many don't bother.

I did it by feel. if your torque wrench is off by a bit, you could really jack some stuff up.
