Title: All Right here she is..
Post by: EdE on May 09, 2011, 11:49:45 PM
Alright her she is.. My first GS500. She's an 89. Poor thing looks like she was some bodies parts bike.. There's no body panels in the picture but it's rattle can yellow.. the left side cover has 2 inches of bondo a metal plate and wood screws.. things are duct taped, broken, wired on and hanging off.. and the engines blown (crank, rod, piston failure), but she's mine. The chassis is so scratched up it's gotta be painted so it's all gotta come apart. Talk about a project..

Good you got a bike, but........   WE LOVE PICTURES  :woohoo:

The FAQ has a thread on how to post pictures:  http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=15370.0
and there are other threads where people give advice.

There are a few of us that are parts whores - like me. So things like tail plastics, grab bars, bars, covers, etc. are all available from people here on the board.

See? Parts whore! Though I'm not bad enough for that "Worst Hoarders" program

Your hoarding is too organized to be on the program.

Talk about the chain.. I pulled the front sprocket cover and all the chains o-rings where in a little pile below the sprocket..

have you considered a nice RD400+ conversion?

I'll admit that the idea has crossed my mind a number of times over the years and I did take the measurements.. it would fit nicely... the problems are two..
1) A nicely tuned 400 sings in such a way that it's very hard not to twist that throttle..
2) I want a nice bike were I don't have to mix my gas..

I'm just a 400 guy I guess, I owned an RZ for a while but it just didn't feel/sound right to me.
I always mixed never trusted the pump..
Now if money weren't an issue a triple banshee even with stock porting in a GS would be really interesting..
