Title: Michelin Pilot Powers?
Post by: tykho on May 16, 2011, 04:33:04 PM
Any of you guys run Michelin Pilot Powers on your bikes? I just put a 180/55/17 on the R6, I got it for $110, but I've heard varying things about what I can expect for tread life. Some people say ~3,000 miles, and I've heard others claim up to 7,500 miles. I will say one thing for them though, they are very sticky, and the warmup time is like, 1 mile. Much better than the Dunlop I had on it before.

Either way, for $110, I'm not going to complain for such a good quality sport tire.

Quite a few run the 150/60 size PPs on the EX/GS500 bikes on the stock 3.5" wheel although it's not a recommended fitment.

I have one on the front wheel. When I bought my bike the PO had somehow pinched a 180/55/17 Pilot Power on the rear wheel, and as a result it wore down incredibly fast on the center. I didn't have an issue as far as grip goes, they are very good, sticky tires. I've run the front for about 3000 miles now, and I still have some tread left. I am unsure as to how long the PO had them on though. I put a 150/70/17 Pilot Road 2 on the rear, and that has worked well for me, and I can't think of a reason why a Pilot Power in the same size would be any different.
