Title: RE: K&N lunch Box
Post by: dirtynailz on May 17, 2011, 04:11:03 PM
Hello all,

I'v been working on my bike for the last month, Currently took the carbs off to get cleaned but noticed that my K&N lunch box was not on very tight it popped right off, after further inspection it seems like the plastic may have warped.... Also it seems hard so when i try to put it back on i can usually get one section on great but the other section constanty pops the other off or reverse.  My question is do i just buy a replacement or can i hit it with a blow drier or something to heat the plastic up so its easier to put on? i tried a little oil but had no luck, also the weather has been nasty in upstate ny so it cant help that its always in the 50's.

If anyone has any good suggestions please let me know... this is the best forum ... ever

There's something that softens up rubber......I think it's power steering fluid? Or maybe ATF?

Brake fluid softens rubber. Sometimes too much. Also eats paint.

Silicone spray.

Lay in sun sometimes works (heat)

Buy a new one (they aren't that expensive.)

Hi Everyone, thanks for the feedback

I took my carbs off to get them cleaned, when i got them back i figured it would be easier to try and get the air box on rather than after i attached the carbs to the bike. So i took the air box and (luckely i have extreamly hot water from the tap) set it on the connection side down in the sink and just ran the water for 5 min... it was nice and soft. shes all back together.
