Title: Size/Composition of Exhaust Bolts?
Post by: Pelikan on May 23, 2011, 08:07:13 PM
Anyone know the size and composition of the exhaust bolts that hold the headers against the engine.  There're four of them with hex heads.

One's lookin' pretty randy...think now would be a good time to replace them all.

Not sure of the exact size, but at 88 cents each, I'd just go buy ones from a dealer or parts house. Homer Despot bolts wouldn't be the right material.

88 cents each. Probably less elsewhere or maybe someone has some. I probably have a dozen or so but as everyone knows, my bike-cave is a mess. Won't be able to check until the weekend when I start putting things back. (Electrical finished tomorrow - complete with 220v ! Then the doors, floor and then I get to build new work benches. )

Spring for the factory replacement and get some exhaust gaskets. The bolts should be torqued to 15 foot pounds.I use antiseize on my bolts.
