Title: Headlight bulbs?
Post by: bombshelter13 on May 24, 2011, 10:51:58 AM
Hey,

One of the headlight bulbs on my '07 GS500F has burnt out, and I'm figuring I might as well replace both of them at once.

What kind of bulb do I need to get to replace them? Are both the top and bottom bulb the same type/size?

There is only 1 headlight bulb, its a combination hi/low. Its a regular H4, you can get it at any auto parts store, Walmart, etc.

It looks to me like there are two?

Both on the parts fiche and when I actually look at my bike I can see bulbs in both the upper and lower part of the headlight enclosure (parts 5 and 6 if you check the parts diagram).

If the second bulb isn't a headlight, what's it for?

The second bulb is just to illuminate the headlight housing for the "Park" feature on the GS.  If you turn your handlebars all the way to the left then turn on the park feature by selecting it on the ignition switch that bulb will illuminate.

There is a small running/parking light. It goes on when the tail light is on to illuminate the license place and the brake light is on dim.
Good one to replace with a bright LED.
