Title: Temporary Gas Tank
Post by: GSProdigy on May 24, 2011, 11:14:21 PM
So my tank is being painted. I have to drive a total of 15 miles tommorrow but my tank wont be done.

Is is possible to use a small tank from a mini bike i have as a temporary solution to get to work?

I dont think it has a port for the carburetor, but will it be ok just fuel to the engine for such a short distance??

You can use anything you can strap on there. Just hook up a fuel line from the temporary tank to the frame mounted petcock. You can even just run it straight to your carbs if you know the floats work because you won't have a way to shut the gas off.

i picked up a scooter plastic gas tank off ebay for super cheap and drove it around like that for awhile while I was working out the bugs.  I just zip tied it on.

Plastic coolant overflow tank. <$10 at any auto supply place. I use one of these for synching carbs.
