Anyone have any pics of some GS500E's at night lighted up with LEDs?
First seen a few bikes lighted up nicely at the start of the season.
Didnt know they were legal (unblinking) here in Pa until someone asked in the safety course.
Absolutely Love the look of them on the right bike and would consider adding them to mine in a heartbeat if it looked right.
Also adds Alot more safety to be seen at night (when I ride to work) which is a Big plus as well.
I dont have pictures and I dont have lights on mine yet, but when you do it, be sure to buy the LED strip lights from ebay and dont buy them from Warhorse. They are crazy expensive for accent lighting. A guy that was taking the MSF when I did paid something like $150 for a light above his back tire and one inside the fairing on the left and the right sides.
Ebay you can get the 30LED strips for a couple bucks a piece, throw on a relay and switch setup and your golden.
Yeah I noticed those while ordering some parts.

Only pic I found so far (cant save and post the actual image tho :(
doesnt look bad but not enough lights in that photo.
needs at least one to light up the rear section.
I did this to Suzi. They were blue - but can't use blue because that's reserved for cops. White looks better, anyway. (There is a picture with blue if you search the Wall of Fame for my pictures)

lol anything u DONT have for these bikes?
Sweet tho
Gonna look for a neon color for at least the engine and rear section.
But thats after I repaint, degrease, and clean everything.
Not one for these lights on cars but I dunno what it is about them on bikes, they just look really sweet.
IMHO, looks stupid....but a lot of people say that about me too, lol...
Yeah its still questionable on mine specifically.
But on a chromed out V twin cruiser, lighting up the engine area.. MMmmmm
I've thought of doing some led lights just to light up/flash when in bad traffic or when someone ahead looks like they aren't paying attention or could pull out in front, or into you.
I have a red led bar over the rear shock and front wheel area. I'll see if I can get some pics tonight.

Are they easy to install?

Are they easy to install?
I've looked a few up in the past few months and did a lil reading.
The lights themselves seem so, so far I have just seen strips with adhesive.
Wiring, Not my department! hahaha
btw bikes look nice but still waitin for an E with them installed vs all these F's. :)
I'll google a bit more in a lil while when I get done with what im currently doing.

didnt even realize this old thread got new replies... hahaha
^^^ very nice, even tho theres no chromed out engine like a cruiser to reflect and illuminate the light more.
All I wanted to see :)
Def. going to consider LEDs when I get the bike lookin better. :thumb:
I can't decide if I like the LED's or not. one thing is for sure though, everyone can see you better at night :D

Thanks for the compliment. I've never put LEDs on anything before, so I'm really happy how it turned out. Here's one more pic I look under low light conditions. I will do some more night shots later, once I put the bike back together (it's getting a valve adjustment.)

this is a "rough mount" of when i was first plotting out the wiring and such. yellow on yellow :) those are mounted on each side of the framerail, and eventually i will wire one to the rear of the bike too.

Thats why I started this thread.
I only seen them on Cruisers with chromed out engines that made it look 10X better.
Wasnt sure how it would look on a GS500E
Because I dunno why, I just really like the look at night with the inside of the bike all illuminated.
Oddly im not one for them on a car. haha
and yea thats probably 50% of the reason I hope my bikes worth doing it too (if it will stop acting up!), so I'm seen better at night.
Because I work 3rd shift and ride to work whenever I can.
Also prefer night riding if its just a joyride around town.
LESS traffic is the $hit!
I just like cruising along with absolutely nobody around to worry about. :thumb:
and y/w on the compliment, it does look pretty sweet.
how many strips did you use and where did you place them?
"how many strips did you use and where did you place them?"
I used 6 LED modules from Oznium. In retrospect it would have been cheaper to use led strips, but hijdsight is always 20/20. Anyway, there is one attached up front where the gas tank hooks into the frame facing down, there are two facing in next to the carbs, one attached to the front of the battery box facing the carbs, and two facing down toward the rear tire attached to the inside of the tail plastics. I will take photos when I get home (bike is apart for valve adjustment.)
Ive bought RGB strips and a controller for mine but they wont go on until I get all my other gears swapped out first and then my new fairings added.

once i recieved the rest of my LED's that i have ordered, i'll mount them
and we could go from there
i'll take a picture of mine tonight so i could post it.

Is red legal in the united states to run as accent lights?http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=0300-0399/0316/Sections/0316.2397.html
NM.. found my answer in the state of Florida... No red or blue... Think i might go UV
i'm not really sure if its legal or illegal in Florida (but looks like it is based from the link you have attached)
but out here in California, everything is Illegal :dunno_black:
its at your own risk, hopefully we don't get caught
UV Light its pretty cool also

One thing that's not illegal is lane-splitting, which makes up for a lot of other restrictions!
true that!
lane splitting
1 up for Cali on that one :woohoo:

Try that in Tallahassee and you are more then likely going to get run over by the horrible drivers!

Not a ton of light but seems to atleast make me more visible...
Note: These are UV but appear blue because of UV filters built into cameras....
