Title: Upside down stock handlebars???
Post by: GSProdigy on May 29, 2011, 01:17:03 AM
So I have a 09. I love the clubman handlebar look.

I have been wondering if anyone has tried to flip the stock handlebars upside down so that the bars curve similar to clubman bars. Or is there not enough clearance?

I am betting you will have clearance issues. I installed drag (flat) bars on my GS and the indicator/high beam switch just clears the tank at full lock. Also the brake reservoir is the other issue you may have trouble with as with the flat bars it just fits between the speedo housing and throttle. There are instances of people installing clubman bars but I am not sure how they got them to not hit the tank. Maybe they might work with a set of bar risers.  :dunno_black:

Or adjustable clubmans from Omar's.

Usually when people install clubmans they have them curved down at that awkward angle to clear the tank and it looks uncomfortable. I've seen people flip stock bars upside down on other bikes but never seen anyone try it on the GS. Only one way to find out.

It doesn't work on the GS.The bars are to narrow.Buddha used to widen them so it could be done.
