I just got keys made and so i'm going to have my GS's key on its own and leave the OEM with my car keys.
I noticed having my motorcycle key with my car key damages the triple tree and such. I was thinking of adding some small things on my GS key so it wont be very easy to loose

was thinking of that plus some kind of plush
My GS key is not on a keyring. I detest too much sh!t attached to a bike key. So the key lives by itself. No keyring. Nothing. When it's not in the bike it lives in my pocket or has a specific place at home. Cannot get lost.
My 919 key has one other small key attached. The key to the topbox and that is it. No other keyring bippy dippies. Just a plain old ring with two keys on it. Simple :thumb: :thumb:
Michael
I have my ignition key, my seat key, and my house key.

see i like this idea way better then a bare key, mainly because its a little easier not to loose things. Its not that i have a habit of loosing things, but just makes it easier to find say SONIC or a CAT rather then just a bare key.
The "Cat" is what I use for the GS...the anime fobs are made from soft plyable rubber, no damage to anything even flopping around at speed and they make the key easier to keep track of :thumb:
I use a small carabiner with nothing else on it. This allows me to clip/unclip the key to/from my belt loop when I have my gloves on. This way, I don't have to take my gloves off to stick my hand in my pocket.
It does rattle against the handle bar and can be quite annoying. It's a pretty soft aluminium so it doesn't cause any damage to the handle bars or top plate.

As Commander Data would say "inquiry..."
Why are you Unclipping (as if to start) with your gloves already on? If you are Clipping (ceased riding) you need to take your gloves off anyway, so why do so After you have clipped key to pants? :dunno_black:
Same applies to key in pocket... why are you putting your gloves on Before starting the bike? Why aren't you taking your gloves off after riding? :dunno_black:

Naked key for me as well.
I'd like to find some kind of cover for say, my house key so that it doesn't bounce and rattle while being attached to my bike key. I don't mind carrying my bike key separate, but I dont like carrying my house key separate. Go figure.

Good question. It's not really a 'first start of the day' thing, but rather a 'stop at the store to run in an grab something' thing. This way I can stop and lock the bike, remove the key and clip it to my belt loop as I continue to walk in the store. I then remove my gloves and helmet as I'm walking. Same thing applies in reverse - I don my helmet and gloves as I'm leaving. In this case there is no need to warm it up as it's already warm; just fire it up and go.
It's all about efficient use of time. I'm a nut like that.
Now I keep the bike in my garage with the key in the ignition, so at the start of a ride, I'll wheel it out and fire it up before I put my gear on.
I'm gonna steal that idea LimaXray.
Just my house key and my 'rents house key. All i need so i dont have to carry my regular keys.
Key and nothing else.
Goes in my pocket when finished and out of pocket for action. Been the same way for 8 years so I imagine it's a matter of habit.
Mine is a plain steel twist on ring containing the bike key, a truck key, a van key, an Army dog tag, and a .50 cal machine gun slug that's engraved "RVN June 1966".

Go for it - I admittedly stole the idea from another GStwins member a while back.

Here's mine. It's the motorbike key, the key to my garage and the ship Serenity from the Firefly TV series.

Nice. But you could accidentally attract Reavers :o

Yep, that's the one.
Nah, she's a "battered old jalopy of a space craft" which pretty accurately describes my GS, so it's fitting.

I keep just a bike key on a ring with a dog tag with rubber silencers on it with my name and emergency contact on it just in case......you know. It has a quick disconnect on it also.
On the other end of my QD is my other matching dog tag with the same info and it stays around my neck while i ride.

That is exactly like my key ring.. minus the serenity...
Small keyring, moto key, disc lock key, handcuff key. They occasionally jingle a bit, but not bad.
I have three sets per moto; one for using, a backup set in my jacket, and a set for home. Ask anyone who has lost or broken their keys, you cannot have enough spares.
I also keep my key codes in a safe place.

THread hijack...where did you get that little clock?
Mine lives on a little clip on my truck key ring when I'm not riding, and is removed when riding so that the other keys do not block the dummy lights. I'd noticed that the rest of the keys were also scratching the top plate, so it was time to remove them.

They also do temp gauges as seen on my GS and 919..

I only have one house key, simply just cause I never got around to making a spare (there are 2 hardware stores each less than a 10 minute walk from me, but let's not get into that LOL).
As a result, I swap my house key back and forth between my car ring and my bike ring. I am 90% sure this will result in me forgetting to swap and getting locked out of the house at some point, probably during a thunderstorm or when my wife is out of town or something.
(http://www.warriordash.com/images/icon_info_merch.png) Just made my medal from the warrior dash into my key ring for the bike. Thats it. It's the helmet on the ribbon. Small and not intrusive. After about 2800 miles no signs of damage on the bars or triple tree.
Those are the ones I lost in the pond, but found amazingly a week later in the pond.
